The new book of the former vice-president Kamala Harris, “107 Days”, withdraws the curtain on his relationship with the first second gentleman, Doug Emhoff, telling a scandal that rocked the first days of his short-term presidential campaign and the fight that united them before the day of the elections.

Shortly after former President Joe Biden suspended his re -election campaign, the Daily Mail reported that Emhoff’s first marriage had put himself following a connection with the nanny of his children. Emhoff confirmed that the case shortly after the announcement of the news last year, and, in the book, Harris deplored that “hurtful and degrading comments are, unfortunately, an integral part of running these days”.

“Where he crosses the line is when the opponents attack family members,” wrote Harris. “Of course, I knew it. Doug had told me about it when we went out together. We revealed it during my verification for VP.”

Harris applauded her husband, whom she presented in her book as “My Dougie”, for having managed him “as the mensch that he is, publishing a declaration taking responsibility and expressing regret”.

“Unfortunately,” said Harris, families are not prohibited when they arise for the presidency.

Later in the book, Harris described “one of these battles that each married couple had”, “a few weeks before election day, after Emhoff reused a birthday present for his birthday and did not hear her shout for a towel.

“I called Doug to ask him to bring one. No answer. He was in the other room, watching the dodgers eliminate the food in the playoffs. He could not hear me over television. I called his phone,” Harris wrote in the book.

When Emhoff replied with casualness, asking: “What’s new?” She described it as a “bridge too far”, which prompted a fight fueled by the stress which “had finally reached both”.

The former vice-president said that she “impatiently awaited a special evening with Doug” the day of her birthday and hoped that he had planned something.

“Doug had kept his own exhausting schedule and had stolen from a campaign event in Michigan. He was tired and concerned,” said Harris, while complaining of not having thought about the hotel in which they stayed that evening or what they would have for dinner.

“He turned out to be a bland establishment whose red and black decor seemed not to have been redone since the 1970s. The only distinguished characteristic of the room was his largest size, but the curtains were broken,” said Harris in his book.

Harris said that her husband “stopped the cold argument”, reminding the presidential candidate, “we cannot turn each other.”

“With the successes coming from all directions, we must remain united,” wrote Harris. “Back on the back, high swords against all external attacks. We had to protect ourselves, be the pillars of force, donors and receivers of patience and unconditional love.”

Like many political couples, unconfirmed rumors have swirling since she lost the elections that Harris and Emhoff could divorce.

But after their fight, Harris described how she started to find notes on her pillow “in Doug’s Chicken Scratch, telling me how much he loved me.”

The day after Harris’ birthday, his corporate secretary, Storm Horncastle, told Emhoff: “Mr. Second Gentleman, you have to solve this problem,” wrote Harris.

“She gave him a set of notes cards. She had counted them one to five, for the nights that we would be separated until the end of the campaign. She asked him to write a note on each,” wrote Harris.

Emhoff has two children from his first marriage, Cole and Ella, referral to the former vice-president as “Momala”.

Harris said her best friend had presented them, admitting that she “kissed a lot of frogs before fate” brought her Emhoff.

She described in the book how “politics is not built for male spouses”.

“At DC, there are longtime social structures and well-understood roles for wives. Not for very rare husbands,” she said in the book.

The Harris office did not immediately respond to the request for comments from Fox News Digital on divorce rumors.
