The criticisms of President Donald Trump did not waste time blaming the endowment cuts at the National Weather Service (NWS) for the death and the generalized destruction caused by the floods in Texas, a reaction that the White House called “shameful and disgusting”.
At least 59 people, including 21 children, were confirmed dead from the floods suddenly along the Guadalupe river which started on Friday. Eleven children and an advisor remain absent in a summer camp for girls near the river, which flooded due to the remains of the tropical storm Barry. This storm led to landing on Mexico, but sparked massive unexpected thunderstorms on certain parts of Texas.
“It only took Trump’s cuts at the (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) to kill dozens of children in Texas when Tropical Storm Barry landed this week,” wrote Grant Stern, editor of occupy Democrats, on X.
The survivors of the Texas floods share heartbreaking stories, research continues for those still lacking
“The inhabitants of Texas voted for the government services controlled by Donald Trump and Greg Abbott,” added Ron Filipkowski, a former federal prosecutor and editor -in -chief of MediaSouchNews. “This is exactly what they (sic) get.”

“What happened to the girls of Camp Mystic is exactly what one of the best meteorologists in the country, John Morales,” added Rachel Bitecofer, deputy director of the Wason Center for Public for Public for the University of Christopher Newport. “Trump’s cuts at Noaa & NWS had a critical impact on the prediction of storms nationwide.”
Internal security secretary Kristi Noem held a press conference on Saturday and recognized some of the criticism of the country’s flood notification systems, which included concerns that the weather forecasts underestimated the amount of rain that finally dropped.
Noem noted that the Trump administration “currently improves” the technology of notification of the country’s floods, which it described as “old”.

“When the system (weather) came to the region, it stalled,” said Noem at the press conference. “It was much more water, a bit like (what) we lived during (Hurricane) HarveyWith the same type of system that was unpredictable in the way he reacted in the way he stopped here and threw unprecedented quantities of rain that caused an flood event like this. “”
Tom Fahy, Legislative Director of the Organization of National Weather Service employees, told NBC News that the offices of meteorological forecasts were adequately endowed with personnel, and “they published forecasts and warnings in time leading to the storm”, but he added that the non -filled management positions were “clearly a concern”.

“The reason for which Trump financed the National Weather Service leading to the death of all these girls in the flood of Texas is that the 2025 project thought that the science of weather prediction was linked to evidence of climate change,” wrote the musician Mikel Jollett on X.

Isaiah Martin, a Democratic candidate for the 18th District of Texas at the Congress, called for an immediate survey of the Congress on “The Republican Cups at the Noaa and the National Weather Service”.
“We have seen the effects (sic) this weekend,” wrote Martin on X. “Trump has financed these agencies and we ask for answers. There must be a fast *!”
Washington Democratic Governor Jay Inslee did not directly blame Trump’s approach in terms of climate change for deaths, but he suggested that the president’s efforts to take off the financing of green energy is a factor contributing to the increase in catastrophic natural disasters, such as the flood of this weekend in Texas.

“It is difficult to aggravate the tragedy of the floods of Texas, except to know that the same day, Trump signed a bill which cries the solar and wind energy which is vital in the battle against climate change, which makes these torrential rains more frequent,” wrote Inslee on X this weekend.
During an interview with CNN, representative Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, added that it did not think it was useful to have open management positions which, if they were filled, could “help prevent these strategies”.
“I do not think it is useful to have missed the key staff of the National Weather Service who is not in place to help prevent these tragedies,” said Castro, adding “we must understand in the future how we make sure that this does not happen again.”

The spokesperson for the White House, Abigail Jackson, described him as “shameful and disgusting” to see that following this tragedy, politicizes what happened.
“It is shameful and disgusting that, in the wake of the tragedy, the first instinct of the left is to lie and politicize a disaster to target their political opponents. False claims concerning the NWS have been demystified several times by meteorologists, experts and other public reports,” said Jackson. “The NWS has done their job, even by issuing flood surveillance more than 12 hours in advance. The Trump administration is grateful to the first stakeholders who entered action to save hundreds of lives during this disaster, and will continue to help the great state of Texas in their recovery efforts.”
