On Wednesday afternoon, not everyone was impatient to welcome the Democratic Democratic candidate from New York to Costan Island.
“Return where you come from. We do not want you to State Island”, a demonstrator wearing a “Trump Girl” t-shirt and holding an American flag shouted to the 33-year-old self-written socialist while he was leaving the stolen door of the Authentic Mediterrane restaurant of Istanbul Bay.
Inside the event, while Mamdani launched its third anti-top event of the week, demonstrators outside the restaurant drowned the introductory speeches with their bells, sirens and mega.
Despite the warmth of the crowded restaurant and its detractors outside, Mamdani maintained a smile throughout the event and said to journalists: “It saddens me to hear the language of having been said to return from where I came from, and yet it is not surprising because that is so much what characterizes the policy of President Trump.”

“I will not let it dissuade me from continuing to come to Staten Island, to continue to speak to New Yorkers, no matter where they live, whatever the policy they have,” said Mamdani in response to the demonstrators. “Because I know that, just as the Republicans feel this way, there are others who are sincere in their questions.”
Several demonstrators outside the restaurant told Fox News Digital that they had planned to vote for Curtis Sliwa, CEO of Guardian Angels in November.
“He is the only one who could save our city,” said Edlander’s statement, wearing a large American flag.
Ed told Fox News Digital that he wanted to give Mamdani “a little surprise party” and let the socialist candidate know that his values do not represent those of Staten Island.
“This is Trump Country,” said Manny, another demonstrator and retired Wall Street who said that Mamdani’s policies are “Anti-Wall Street”.

“He wants to make everything free. He cannot afford it. He is a socialist. He does not live that. We are not socialists,” said Banks.
Banks agreed with the other demonstrators outside the restaurant, saying to Fox News Digital that “nobody else” could be mayor but Sliwa.
“He’s a real New Yorker. He is fighting for New York all his life. Give him a chance to enter,” said Banks.
Another demonstrator, Liz, shouted: “Mamdani is a commander!” While the Democratic candidate left for his SUV.
Liz said she didn’t like Mamdani because “it’s not a democrat, it’s communist”.
She said that Mamdani is trying to try New Yorkers with campaign promises such as free daycares, free bus prices and grocery stores managed by the government, but Liz said it would be a “disaster” if it became mayor.

When Mamdani declared the victory in the Democratic primary, the outgoing mayor Eric Adams, who presents himself as an independent, called Mamdani a “snake oil seller” who “would say and do anything to be elected”.
Trump has often criticized Mamdani and his policies, calling him “100% communist”.
The Icelanders of Staten who spoke to Fox News Digital outside the anti-Trump event in Mamdani on Wednesday seemed to agree with these feelings, calling it “commie” and criticizing his socialist policies, which include the freezing of rent, the increase in business taxes and the increase in minimum wages.
But Shahana Masum, who sported a “Zohran for State Staten Island” sticker on his bag and attended the event, told Fox News Digital that Mamdani is the person who represents “me and my community”.
