Trump also announced on Friday that he repositioned two nuclear submarines after a “very provocative” conversation with former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.
“Based on the very provocative declarations of the former president of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now the vice-president of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, I ordered that two nuclear submarines are positioned in the appropriate regions, in case these insane and inflammatory declarations are more than those that the words are not very important. Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Zelenskyy’s message comes when Putin has only one week to respect Trump’s deadline to end the war and a half. The acting American representative John Kelley announced the deadline during a briefing of the United Nations Security Council on “threats of international peace and security”.
Trump, who has always expressed his desire to end the war, recently said that Russia’s actions against Ukraine were “disgusting”.
“Russia and Ukraine must negotiate a cease-fire and lasting peace. It is time to conclude an agreement. President Trump said it was to be done by August 8. The United States is ready to implement additional measures to ensure peace.” Kelley said.
Kelley reiterated the support of the United States to the right of Ukraine to defend himself in the face of Russian attacks.

“Our support for the defense of Ukraine cannot be compared to the supply of weapons and material to Russia, which allows Russia to continue its invasion and its large -scale occupation of the Ukrainian territory,” said Kelley. “Last week, we called on all the member states of the UN to help end the war by ceasing any support for the war efforts of Russia. We do it again today.”
The American diplomat explicitly named North Korea, China and Iran as countries that have helped Russia directly and indirectly. He said that even if Beijing did not directly provide Moscow weapons, it acted as a “decisive catalyst” in “being the most important supplier of the industrial war machine of Russia”.
