Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy demanded that the United States respond to a “brutally wild” Russian strike which, according to him, left more than 20 dead.
“Directly on people. Ordinary civilians. At the very moment when pensions were disbursed,” said Zelenskyy about the attack in A post on x.
The strike struck the rural city of Yarova in the Donetsk region. While Russia denied having targeted civilians, tens of thousands have been killed since the invasion of Moscow in February 2022, Reuters reported.

“The Russians continue to destroy lives while avoiding new strong sanctions and new strong blows,” added Zelenskyy. “The world should not remain silent. The world must not remain inactive … Strong actions are necessary to ensure that Russia stops making death.”
Donetsk governor Vadym Filashkin said that the strike was not a “military operation”, but rather that it was “pure terrorism”, according to the Independent kyiv, who cited his telegram channel.
Zelenskyy specifically called the United States, Europe and the G20 in its article on X after the strike, which included a carnage graphic video.
In particular, Zelenskyy did not appoint NATO. His request for action from Europe and the G20 comes as the secretary general of NATO, Mark Rutte, goes to the United Kingdom, where he will attend a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, according to NATO.

Russia is launching the biggest attack on Ukraine this month after Trump meetings with Putin, Zelenskyy
The White House has not yet responded to the strike or the request of Zelenskyy. However, the Trump administration made the end of the brutal war in Russia-Ukraine a priority, President Donald Trump meeting both Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Last month, Trump and Putin met face to face during the first meeting between the Russian leader and an American president since 2021. After the meeting of high issues, Trump and Putin seemed convinced that they had progressed to peace, despite not having reached the cease-fire agreement that many had hoped.

Zelenskyy accuses Trump of having given Putin “what he wanted” at the top of Alaska
Zelenskyy seemed less convinced, and he recently accused Trump of having given Putin “what he wanted” at the top of Alaska.
“It is a shame that Ukraine was not there, because I think President Trump gave Putin what he wanted,” Zelenskyy told Martha Raddatz of ABC on September 7.
