Zelenskyy said that this meeting should be different from the discussions on how to achieve peace with Russia, which allowed Moscow to take control of Crimea and part of the Donbas in 2014.

He also noted that the “so-called” security guarantees “” given to Ukraine in 1994 in the years following the fall of the Soviet Union did not work.

The Ukrainian President said that his country would not tolerate another temporary truce, in order that only the enforceable guarantees of the United States and Europe could prevent Moscow from launching future attacks.

“ Our position is clear: ” Zelenskyy and the EU reject the famous Ukrainian lands in Russia

In his article on X, Zelenskyy underlined some of the recent “success” by Ukrainian forces, stressing his assurance that kyiv can and will defend his territory with continuous Western support.

“The Ukrainians are fighting for their lands, for their independence. Now, our soldiers are successful in the Donetsk and Sumy regions. I am convinced that we will defend Ukraine, will actually guarantee security and that our people will always be grateful to President Trump, everyone in America, and to each partner and ally for their idial support and assistance,” he said.

While Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to Trump, America and European allies for support, he also said that he hoped that “joint force” pushes Russia to end the war that he started more than three years ago.

“Russia must end this war, which it has started itself. And I hope that our joint strength with America, with our European friends, will force Russia to real peace. Thank you!”

The push occurs after Russian President Vladimir Putin would have demanded that Ukraine withdraw from two oriental regions at a summit with Trump in Alaska on Friday.

Trump seemed to show his support for Putin’s demand in an article on Truth Social Sunday evening, writing that Zelenskyy has the ability to “end the war with Russia”.

“President Zelenskyy of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants, or he can continue to fight. Remember how it started. No recovery of Obama who gave the Crimea (12 years ago, without a shot to be dismissed!), And not NATO by Ukraine. Some things never change !!!” He wrote.

Zelenskyy has repeatedly declared that Ukraine abandons any territory.
