An influencer of 25 -year -old social media and a progressive activist hopes to follow in the footsteps of Zohran Mamdani by winning an astonishing victory and who came to a primary of the Congress of the high -level Democratic Party.

Deja Foxx is the youngest of the five candidates who present themselves in the primary of Tuesday in the race to fill the fire seat of the democratic representative Raul Grijalva of Arizona, died in March of the complications linked to the treatment of cancer.

The winners of the democratic and republican primaries will compete on September 23 during a special election to serve the last 15 months of the Grijalva mandate in the 7th district of the Arizona congress, a strongly blue district which extends from Tucson to Yuma and includes almost the entire length of the southern state border with Mexico.

“This moment requires more than a politician. You deserve a fighter,” said Foxx in an article on social networks. “It’s more than a campaign. It is a movement. It is a fight for our future.”

FOXX, who has become viral in adolescence for having to face the Senator of Republican, Jeff Flake on the issue of reproductive rights, enjoys support of the firearm crossroads David Hogg, who recently withdrew his post as vice-president of the National Democratic Committee after having turned the party leaders upset for his efforts for the primary challenges against the blue districts.

Hogg, who campaigned with Foxx last weekend in the district, predicts that she “will make history in the southwest of Arizona”.

In addition, he compared his number of booming surveys in the last days of the primary campaign to that of Mamdani, the 33 -year -old Ugandan state legislator who exceeded former governor Andrew Cuomo and nine other candidates last month to win the Democratic appointment for the mayor of New York.

Similar to the primary of the mayor of New York, the competition in southern Arizona will be considered by many political experts as a barometer of the place where the Democratic Party is directed as the party deals with longtime divisions between its creation and its foreigner, and progressive and moderate wings.

The racing favorite seems to be the former Pima County supervisor, Adelita Grijalva, who is the daughter of the deceased member of the Congress.

She likes the support of some of the best state democrats, especially Sens. Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego, the general prosecutor Kris Mayes and the former representative Gabrielle Giffords.

Grijalva is also supported by two main progressive champions – Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont and representative Alexandria Ocasio -Cortez de New York – who both supported Mamdani in the primary of the town hall of New York.

The former state representative, Daniel Hernandez, also affirms the appointment. He is well known in Arizona for helping to save the life of the former Democrat representative Gabby Giffords during a horrible shooting of 2011 in Tucson, while he was an intern of the deputy. But Giffords approved Grijalva in the primary race.

Aboriginal activist and scholars Jose Malvido Jr. and former health director Patrick Harris Sr. also present themselves for democratic appointment in the majority-HISPANIC district where Democrats are more numerous than the Republicans by a margin of almost two to one.

More than $ 2 million have been distributed to disseminate advertisements in the Democratic primary, part of the money from external groups.
