“I did something terrible, and I’m really sorry for that. I hope they have their hearts to forgive me, and maybe that in the future I can play there.”

John Lunch, president of Oakmont Country Club, sent a letter to the members before the start of the open in Northern Ireland by saying that Clark had been prohibited as a result of discussions with the United States Golf Association (USGA) as well as the Board Club.

“Several of you have inquired about the situation involving Wyndham Clark and the measures taken in response to his recent behavior,” read Lynch’s letter by ESPN. “After several discussions with the USGA and the USC board of directors, a decision was made so that Mr. Clark is no longer authorized on OCS property.

“This decision will remain in force, unless it is officially reconsidered and approved by the Council.”

The letter also noted that Clark could be authorized to play again in Oakmont if he pays the damage he has made, makes a “significant contribution” to a charity selected by the OCC board and undergoes advisory and / or anger management therapy.

Clark said that he had seen the requirements and that he had contacted them.

“Obviously, it is obvious to pay the damage. It was obvious,” said Clark. “Then, obviously all the excuses, and I want to give back to the community because I injured an ideal place to Pittsburgh, so I wanted to do everything I could to show them that what happened there was not a reflection of who I am and will not happen again.”

Meanwhile, Clark said he “hoped it was going to be deprived” instead of seeing a letter sent to all the members of Oakmont.

It will take a while until Oakmont welcomes a major again, because it is planned to be the home of the US Open 2033. It will also be the last year of the 10 -year exemption from Clark for the tournament after having won it at the Los Angeles Country Club in 2023.
