Witkoff says Putin made “robust” concessions in the meeting of Trump Alaska

The American special envoy for peace missions Steve Witkoff says that Russian President Vladimir Putin took “robust” steps towards peace during his meeting with President Donald Trump last week.
Witkoff made the statement during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday” with the host Shannon Bream. The manager was in the room for the Alaska meeting and met Putin several times before.
“We agree on much more robust security guarantees,” said Witkoff. “The Russians have agreed to consecrate a legislative language that they would atte to try not to try to take more land from Ukraine after a peace agreement, where they would attest to violate any European border.”
Witkoff also said Trump spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders directly after the meeting. He said the meeting was “absolutely recognized as a victory”.

Blow pressed Witkoff to explain why Trump also did not push Putin for a ceasefire agreement at the meeting. Trump had previously declared that a cease-fire was an absolute priority and said Putin would face consequences if he did not grant it.

“The president has always spoken of a ceasefire, until he won many different victories at this meeting and begins to realize that we could speak of a peace agreement. The ultimate agreement here is a peace agreement, and we were talking about much more robust security than anyone who did not imagine,” he said.

In a statement after the call with Trump, the great European leaders did not know if they preferred a peace agreement to a cease-fire.

Putin described her talks with Trump in Alaska as “very frank”.

“We respect of course the position of the American administration, which sees the need for a rapid end to military actions,” Putin said at the follow -up meeting at the Kremlin, adding that “we would like to move on to the resolution of all problems by peaceful means”.
