Michael Donilon, long -standing assistant for former president Joe Biden, is sitting with room investigators in the automatic investigation of the president of the James Comer surveillance committee on Wednesday.

Donilon is one of the most sustainable confidants of Biden, with an employment relationship that began in 1981 when the former president was an American senator from Delaware.

He is not foreign to Washington, DC, having obtained his baccalaureate and his doctor from the University of Georgetown either.

Donilon then worked on Biden’s campaigns in 2020 and 2024 as a chief strategist and was one of the key people to have made the offensive against his democratic colleagues after throwing Biden following his disastrous debate in June 2024 against President now Donald Trump.

“Now many people have terrible debates,” said Donilon at a Harvard University event. “Many people have terrible debates. Usually the party does not lose their heads, but that’s what happened here. It has melted.”

This earned him reprimands of his leftist colleagues, in particular the former CNN’s political adviser and political commentator, David Axelrod, who described the comments of Donilon as “delusional” on X.

And while his work for Biden made him a figure at the national level, Donilon has spent years working on other notable democratic campaigns.

He played a role in the electoral successes of former President Bill Clinton in 1992 and former governor Virginia Douglas Wilder in 1989, among others.

But it was the four -year period in which Donilon was the main advisor to the Biden White House, then his visit to the short -term campaign of Biden in 2024, which attracted the attention of the chamber’s supervisory committee.

He was nicknamed a member of the “Politburo” of Biden by journalist Axios Alex Thompson and the host of CNN Jake Tapper in their book “Original Sin” – described as a small group of initiates who would have helped to manage the White House while covering the signs of Biden’s decline of others.

“The president appreciated Mike Donilon’s advice so much that the aid would like to joke later that if he wanted, he could ask Biden to trigger a war,” the authors wrote.

Donilon was also paid $ 4 million to work on Biden’s re -election offer, according to the book.

THE Wall Street Journal reported in December 2024 that Donilon was also a key intermediary between Biden and his pollsters during this short -term campaign.

And he was with Biden until the end of his administration, would have been One of the assistants of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, joining the then president when he wrote the explosive letter that ended his campaign.

Since then, Donilon has played a role as a resident researcher in the spring of 2025 at the Harvard University Institute.
