Well, I tried.

Two months ago, I wrote “An open letter to John Lithgow: please, keep Harry Potter away”. At the time of writing, Lithgow had not yet officially accepted the role of Dumbledore in the next HBO TV adaptation of Harry Potter. I knew it was in the long term that he would see it, too bad, moving away from the project, but I had to try.
A few days ago, I was shocked to discover that Lithgow had seen my letter. In fact, he was sent to him by SMS by “a very good friend who is the mother of a trans child”. When he was asked if his friend’s plea for him to leave this transphobic franchise had affected his reflections on the role, he said: “Oh, the sky no.”
As you can expect, I have a lot of reflections on this experience.
