Democratic legislators focused on the role of defense secretary Pete Hegseth in a group group cat during a confirmation hearing for former national security advisor Mike Waltz to be Ambassador to the UN UN

Waltz was examined after his team created a signal group cat to discuss strikes against the Houthis. An Atlantic journalist was accidentally included with other senior administration officials, including Hegseth, Vice-President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

While Senator Tim Kaine, D-VA., Said it was an “amateur decision” for the Waltz office to include the journalist, Kaine said that nothing indicated Waltz sharing classified information in the cat.

But Kaine said that there were at least two in progress pentagon investigations, one with the Pentagon Inspector General and another with the Air Force, to determine if Hegseth disclosed classified information in cats when he discussed the specific planes and times of the strikes.

“They have not yet reached a conclusion, but they have certainly not reached a conclusion that no classified information is shared. Am I wrong on this subject?” Kaine said about surveys.

“I shouldn’t and I can’t comment on the current surveys,” said Waltz. “What I can do is echo the testimony of Secretary Hegseth according to which no name, target, places, units, road, sources, methods, no classified information.”

“I understood it. I am sure that secretary HegSeth says that he has not shared any classified information,” said Kaine. “But the fact is that there are two current surveys at the Pentagon precisely to determine, in an objective and independent manner, if the classified information has been shared and, a minimum, sharing attack plans with sensitive military information that should not have been shared.”

Senator Chris Coons, D-Conn., Also expressed his concerns about the use of the cat group’s cat after Waltz has doubled the statements of the Trump administration that no classified information was communicated on the cat.

“You share details on an upcoming air strike and the time for launch and potential targets,” said Coons. “I mean, it was obviously sensitive information.”

Coons asked Waltz if the former national security advisor had spoken to HegSeth about his decision to share detailed information relating to the strike.

Then, American national security advisor? Here’s who could choose to replace Waltz

“What we talked about, the senator was a very successful mission that did something that the Biden administration did not do, (which) in fact targeted Houthi management,” said Waltz.

The legislators, including Coons, expressed their hope of appropriating what was discussed in the cat, while Waltz did not maintain any classified information was shared.

“I was hoping to hear from you that you had a sense of regret to share what was very sensitive and timely information on a military strike on a trade available application,” said Coons. “It is not, as we both know, the appropriate way of sharing this critical information.”

“Again, the senator, I think we have a fundamental disagreement, because there was no classified information on this cat,” said Waltz.

The Pentagon refused to provide comments to Fox News Digital. Waltz could not be joined to comment Fox News Digital.
