Two weeks after the federal raids in Los Angeles stimulated national demonstrations on immigration policy, the latest national Fox News survey reveals that many voters think that legal immigrants help the country – while promoting the expulsion of those who are illegally.

Seventy percent think that legal immigrants help the United States rather than injuring it (22%). This increased by 15 points compared to two years ago when 55% said they helped.

The increase is mainly driven by a strong increase in the number of Republicans who think that legal immigrants help the country (61% against 35% in 2023).

At the same time, a majority of 56% promotes the deportation of those who are illegally in the United States. It is down 63% since March and a summit of 67% in October 2024 and December 2023.

Most Republicans (87%) and more than half of the self -employed (54%) promote the expulsion here illegally, while two -thirds of the Democrats oppose it (67%).

More Hispanic voters believe that legal immigrants help (68%) than injured (24%), but they are divided by deporting illegal immigrants (49% of favor, 48% oppose).

On June 6, federal agents carried out immigration application raids in Los Angeles which prompted the demonstrations at the national level aimed at the immigration and customs, or ice cream, and immigration policies of President Donald Trump. In response, Trump mobilized the National Guard and the American soldiers to help the local federal agents and the police – to which the officials of the states and premises, including the governor of California Gavin Newsom, opposed.

Almost half of the voters (46%) approve the work that ice does and disapproval increased from 41% in 2018 to 49% in 2019 to 52% today. Ice attitudes are motivated by partisanry, because more than 8 out of 10 democrats disapprove, while an equal number of republicans approve. Almost two thirds of the self -employed disapprove of.

“Trump is sure when he tries to illegally withdraw people in the country,” said Republican sounder Daron Shaw, who leads Fox News survey with Democratic counterpart Chris Anderson. “But democrats and some self -employed are sensitive to the assertion that ice raids are heavy and throw the net too largely.”

By margin of 6 points, more voters promote local governments cooperating with ice in the application of federal immigration policies than supporting them allowing them to have total control over the application of immigration in their communities (51% against 45%).

The divisions are striking as men, white voters, voters aged 65 and over, and the Republicans prefer local governments cooperating with the application of immigration, while non -white voters, voters under the age of 30 and democrats promote local leaders with total control. Opinions among women are divided.

When it comes to protesting against the application of ice and federal immigration, voters have separated: 49% say that it is appropriate, and the same number indicates inappropriate.

On Trump’s response to demonstrations, by a margin of 5 points, the more say that the sending of the National Guard and the American soldiers was inappropriate (52%) against appropriate (47%).

Those who are most likely to say that the demonstrations are appropriate while saying that the sending of the armed forces is inappropriate are democratic men, Hispanic voters, women holding a university diploma and voters under the age of 30. Those who are most likely to disapprove of the demonstrations while supporting the Whites without a university diploma. The self -employed believe that the two actions are inappropriate.

Overall, more than half (52%) say that sending the National Guard aggravated things compared to the Third Party of Thought that this has improved things (34%).

A thin majority of voters claim that the application by the Trump administration of immigration policies has gone too far (53%). It is more than twice as much of those who think they have not been far enough (21%). A quarter believes that they are almost right (26%). Despite this, voters are divided on the question of whether these policies make the United States safer (39% safe, 39% less safe, 22% make no difference).

In general, about two -thirds are concerned about illegal immigration (67%extremely or very), the domestic use of American military troops (66%) and demonstrations in American cities (63%), but these questions arouse the slightest concern for eight problems tested in the survey.

The future of the United States (85%extremely or very concerned), inflation (84%), public spending (80%), Iran obtaining a nuclear bomb (78%) and anti-Semitism (69%) are more worrying for voters.

More democrats (87%) and the self-employed (71%) express their concern about the deployment of federal troops in cities in response to anti-ice demonstrations than Republicans (42%). Conversely, more Republicans (84%) are concerned about illegal immigration than independents (68%) and Democrats (49%).

Trump’s best job score is on border security 53% to approve (46% disapprove). Immigration is his next next, but he is still underwater here (46% approves, 53% disapprove).

This helps Democrats give it two figures out of the two (19% approve border security, 11% immigration).

Overall, 46% approve of Trump’s professional performance, while 54% disapprove of.

Trump’s favorable personal notation is 45% favorable, 55% unfavorable – similar in last month. The favorable notation of Newsom is lower than that of the president, at 39% favorable (45% unfavorable) – it is still an improvement of 4 points compared to last July. Some 16% are unable to assess Newsom.

Another thing …

Earlier this month, Trump signed an executive decree prohibiting citizens from 12 African countries and the Middle East to go to the United States

The voters separated on the action, 48% approving it, while the same number disapproves.

Eight years ago, when Trump ordered a similar ban, voters were more decisive. At that time, 43% approved and 54% disapproved of the ban on citizens in six countries in the same regions.

Directed from June 13 to 16, 2025, under the direction of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R), this Fox News survey includes interviews with a sample of 1,003 voters registered at random in a national voter file. The respondents maintained themselves with live interviewers on fixed lines (149) and mobile phones (566) or completed the survey online after receiving an SMS (288). The results based on the full sample have a sampling error margin of ± 3 percentage points. The sampling error for the results between the subgroups is higher. In addition to the sampling error, the wording of the question and the order can influence the results. Weights are generally applied to age, breed, education and area variables to ensure that demographic data are representative of the registered electoral population. Sources to develop weight objectives include the American Community Survey, Fox News Voter Analysis and voter file data.
