Russian officials said Ukrainian drones have sparked one night fire in a nuclear power plant in the Russian Kursk region.

The strikes coincided with the 34th day of the independence of Ukraine, marking its 1991 break with the Soviet Union.

Russia has said that strikes have reached several electrical installations. The fire of the plant quickly died. A transformer was damaged, but the radiation levels remained normal and no injury has been reported.

The United Nations nuclear custody said that he was aware of the media reports of a transformer fire “due to military activity”, but had not confirmed them independently.
