Ukraine eliminates Russian agents who killed Colonel Ivan Voronych in Kyiv

The Ukraine security agency said on Sunday that it had located and killed two Russian agents accused of having murdered one of its superior officers.

The Ukraine Safety Service (SBU) announced that its agents “eliminated” two Russian wake killers “in the kyiv region on Sunday morning, in response to the end of the day Thursday of Colonel Sbu Ivanych.

Voronych – whose attack was captured on a surveillance video – would have been involved in secret operations inside the territories occupied by Russia in Ukraine and would have played a role in the organization of the Ukrainian incursion of last year in the Kursk region of Russia.

“During a special operation, employees of the Ukraine Security Service eliminated Russian special service agents which, on the FSB instructions of the Russian Federation, carried out the murder of a Colonel SBU in kyiv,” said SBU declaration.

Vasyl Malyuk, head of the SBU and commander of the special operation, said that alleged Russian agents were “eliminated” after resisting arrest.

“The FSB agent-combat group was sent to Ukraine in advance and three days ago, committed the murder of an SBU employee, our comrade Colonel Ivanych,” Malyuk said in the statement. “Following secret measures of investigation and active counterattack, the enemy’s lain was discovered. I would like to remind you that the only perspective of the enemy in the territory of Ukraine is death!”

Malyuk also thanked the national police criminal investigation service for his support and stressed that the fight against Russian espionage remains a higher priority of the SBU. He said SBU “prevents 85% of the crimes that the enemy is trying to commit” in Ukraine.

Last Thursday, sources said Ukrainska Pravda That Voronych was approached by an unidentified attacker around 9 am, the local time and was killed five times with a pistol before the suspect fled.

Surveillance images seemed to show that the colonel took an ambush outside a building walking towards a vehicle. Voronych died on the scene of several ball injuries, said the point of sale.

Russia and Ukraine have carried out targeted murders since the start of the war in February 2022.
