After facing several months of counterpoup, the Colorado State Capitol replaced a controversial portrait of President Donald Trumpwhich, according to him, was “deliberately distorted” by the artist.
A new presidential portrait, recently given by the White House, was installed last week at the Denver Capitol, said the Colorado Capitol Building Advisory Committee on Wednesday. He replaces the painting of artist Colorado Sarah Boardman, who had been suspended since 2019.
Despite the six -year race of the previous portrait, Trump went to social networks last spring to criticize the work, saying that Boardman “must have lost his talent as they age” and had “distorted” his image. The artist of Colorado Springs denied the affirmations.
While Boardman’s painting represented a much younger Trump, the last display of Arizona Vanessa Horabuena’s artist reflects Trump’s official presidential photo.

“Thank you to the very talented artist, Vanessa Horabuena, and to the incredible people of Colorado,” said Trump on Truth Social Tuesday.
Horabuena is a “Christian worship artist” who has made several other representations of Trump as well as Abraham Lincoln, Mount Rushmore and Jesus Christ, according to his website. She did not immediately respond to a request for comments from Fox News Digital.
Boardman told Fox News Digital that she had no comments on the new table.

The portrait of Horabuena was installed as a temporary exhibition following a decision Thursday by the Advisory Committee, which oversees artistic displays in the Capitol.
“The Capitol Building Advisory Committee agreed during the Committee meeting on June 26, 2025 to temporarily display this given portrait and will examine the provision of the full presidential portraits collection during a future meeting,” the committee told Fox News Digital. “The new portrait is installed in the gallery on the third floor of Colorado Capitol.”
Court laws, a former state legislator who chairs the committee, told the Associated Press that the installation of the given work was the right decision.
“There was a white on the wall,” said short. “It seemed inappropriate. We knew that the White House had sent us this replacement and it was simply logical to put it in place.”

The portrait of Boardman was removed from the wall of the presidential gallery of the Capitol in April, according to the Committee, after the Democrats of Colorado – who checked the Legislative Assembly – agreed to abandon it at the request of local Republican leaders.

“No one likes a bad image or a painting of themselves, but that of Colorado, in the State Capitol, set up by the governor, with all the other presidents, was deliberately distorted at a level that even me, perhaps, has never seen before,” said Trump in March on Truth Social. “The artist also made President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but that of me is really the worst. She had to lose her talent as they get older.”
