Trump’s main candidates left for limbo while the Senate is heading for a month break

While the legislators leave Washington for a recess of one month, more than 150 of the candidates of President Donald Trump remain in the limbo, pending confirmation of the Senate or an additional action in the middle of the procedures at the stadium and by deepening the partisan blocking.
Key positions through the administration of Trump remain unable, the judicial and diplomatic posts bringing the weight of the backlog.

Former national security adviser Mike Waltz is still waiting for confirmation from the Senate for his appointment as an American ambassador to the United Nations. Likewise, Andrew Puzder has not yet been confirmed as American ambassador to the European Union, a particularly important position given that the EU is one of the largest American trade partners.

At the Ministry of Justice, Stanley Woodward is appointed Associate Prosecutor General, while Patrick Davis awaits the confirmation of Deputy Prosecutor General for Legislative Affairs.
The appointments for several lawyers in the offices of the American lawyer in Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Pennsylvania and South Dakota, remain awaiting confirmation.

The Congress left the city on Saturday after having confirmed only a few candidates, without any bipartite agreement in place to advance most of the appointments waiting for Trump.
Jeanine Pirro, former leader of Fox News and New York judge and prosecutor, was among the seven of Trump’s candidates quickly confirmed on Saturday.

Pirro’s confirmation as an American DC prosecutor intervenes while dozens of temporary prosecutors aligned with Trump’s judicial program approach the end of their 120 -day term limit. After that, the appointment to these key roles moves to the courts if no successor confirmed by the Senate is in place.

After the collapse of Bipartisan talks on Saturday, the head of the majority of the Republican Senate, John Thune, described the confirmation process as “broken”, stressing that the rules of the Senate governing the nominations “desperately need change”.
Meanwhile, the Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said that a change in rules would be a “huge error” by accelerating the pace of confirmations.
He also added that legislators have “never seen such imperfect, compromised, as unqualified candidates as we have done at the moment”.
