Trump’s influence is looming in Virginia’s main electoral competitions

Tuesday’s main competitions in Swing State Virginia are firearm for a general electoral force test in November which is considered a referendum on the position that President Donald Trump made during his second White House service.

“Trump will play a role in this race,” said Dave Richards, President of Political Science at the University of Lynchburg.

Earle-Sears, 61, was born in the island nation of the Caribbean of Jamaica and immigrated to the United States at the age of 6. She served in the Marines and is a former state legislative that marked history four years ago when she won the election as the first woman governor of Virginia.

Spanberger, 45, was born in New Jersey. The former CIA intelligence official won the elections at Congress in 2018 before guaranteeing a re -election in 2020 and 2022.

The Republicans swept the elections to the governor, at Lieutenant-Governor and Attorney General in Virginia four years ago, breaking a 12-year-old sequence against the Democrats.

While the Republicans have not worn the Commonwealth in a White House competition since 2004, Trump has only lost the state by six points in the presidential election last November, an improvement of four points compared to his defeat in 2020.

However, the Republicans will be confronted with historic opposite winds in November. With one exception – since 1977, the party that has the White House has lost the elections to the governor of Virginia.
