On Friday, the United States Supreme Court extended a previous order which allows the Trump administration to continue to block nearly $ 5 billion in foreign funds appropriate by the congress.
The United States Ministry of Justice had contacted the High Court for an emergency appeal after a judge of the District Court judged that the administration’s decision to maintain aid was probably illegal, adding that the Congress should approve of the restraint of the funds.
“This case raises questions of immense legal and practical importance, in particular if there is an avenue to test the decision of the executive power not to pass from appropriate funds to the congress,” said District Judge Amir Ali at the time.
The decision on Friday was 6 to 3 years old, the three dissident liberal judges.

President Donald Trump last month sent a letter to the president of the Mike Johnson Chamber, explaining that he used a pocket termination, which allows a president to submit a request to the congress to hold approved funds towards the end of the fiscal year.
Under the federal law, the congress must approve the termination within 45 days or that the money must be spent. But the budgetary year will end before the 45 -day window closed and, in this situation, the White House affirms that the inaction of the congress allows it not to spend the money.
It was the first use of a pocket cancellation in 50 years.

Majority conservative judges on Friday said that Trump’s authority on foreign policy was weigning in the decision, but warned that it was not a final decision on the issue.
