President Donald Trump’s agenda appeared on Life Support as defectors at GOP, for a while, seemed ready to torpedo it. But in the end, only two Republicans voted against the bill, and he is now heading to the president’s office.

Rep. Thomas MassieR-ky., And Brian FitzpatrickR-P., Were the only defectors against “Big and Beautiful Bill” by Trump. The president of the Mike Johnson room, R-La, could not afford to lose three Republicans, since no democrat was willing to cross the aisle to support the megabill of 3.3 billions of dollars.

Although he voted to support the procedural obstacle to obtain the public prosecutor’s bill, the Massie’s decision to vote against the bill was apparently predetermined. He continually argued that the colossal, border, defense and energy tax package would add billions of billions to the country’s debt and do little to limit the dependence on Washington spending.

And he was not one of the many conservatives that Trump and the Republican leaders tried to put pressure on the day on Wednesday, nor as the ground remained open early Thursday afternoon.

“(Trump) holds out hand every day on Twitter, holding hands with a million dollars of announcements in my district with a photo of me and ayatollah,” said Massie. “So this is the only kind of involvement that I have seen so far.”

While Trump did not match it directly, the president called on the Holdout Republicans to stop holding the bill hostage on Wednesday evening, and declared on social truth that “Maga is not happy, and that costs you votes !!!”

Trump had previously threatened a massie of a main challenger, as he did with Senator Thom Tillis, RN.C., before his retirement announcement, for defection against the bill.

But senior White House officials told journalists an appeal just after the bill adopted that the president had not threatened a primary against the legislators to win their vote, and that the legislators “understand the president’s political power, and, ultimately, they want his political power to be used to their advantage”.

Fitzpatrick had raised concerns about the changes that Senate GOP had given to Medicaid reforms in the bill, but had not publicly joined a post before the procedural vote.

He was the only “no” of voting on the rule, and this resistance was brought to the final vote which finally saw the Republicans of the House largely unify and pass the legislative giant.

Fitzpatrick declared in a press release a few minutes before the bill he had voted to “strengthen Medicaid protections, to definitively prolong the tax cuts in the middle class, for an improvement in the tax relief of small businesses and for historical investments in our border security and our soldiers”, but that the Senate adjustments atritated it to the bill.

“However, it was the amendments of the Senate in Medicaid, in addition to several other provisions of the Senate, which have changed the analysis of our PA-1 community,” he said. “The original language of the Chamber was written in a way that protected our community; Senate amendments failed our standard.”

“I believe in the policies that are thoughtful, compassionate and good for our community,” he continued. “It is this standard that will always guide my legislative decisions.”
