EXCLUSIVE – The candidate of the Republican Senate and former representative Mike Rogers says that the approval of President Donald Trump gives him a “clear shot” while he aims to return a seat held by the Democrats in the battlefield of Michigan in the mid-term elections next year.
The support of the president of Rogers last week one day came after the GOP representative, Bill Huizenga, who had seriously thought about the Senate in Michigan, announced that he would not launch a Senate campaign in 2026 after consultations with Trump.
The announcement of Huizenga and the approval of Trump who followed helped erase the Rogers field, which makes its second consecutive offer for the Senate.
“It’s huge,” said Rogers about Trump’s approval. “This shows how much we arrived in the unification of the republican party here in Michigan.”

And Rogers stressed in an exclusive digital interview with Fox News that “eliminating any potential opponent in a primary allows us to continue to rely on the momentum we have”.
Rogers, who earlier this year, was supported by the head of the majority of the Senate John Thune and the senatorial republican national committee, stressed that “people who jumped on board, wanting to be part of the team” since Trump’s approval last week.
“To have the approval of Trump, who seals the agreement. Rogers aims to succeed the retirement of the Democratic Senator Gary Peters of Michigan, who announced earlier this year that he would not ask for his re -election.

Rogers, a former FBI special agent who was then chairman of the House Intelligence Committee during his mandate at the Congress, made his second consecutive race for the Senate in Michigan.
Rogers won the appointment of the GOP 2024 Senate in Michigan, but narrowly lost against the representative Elissa Slotkin, the candidate of the Democrats, during the election of last November in the race to succeed the longtime Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow, who retired.

Slotkin, who has largely exceeded Rogers, has ahead of around 19,000 votes, a third of percentage.
“We have already seen an opening of checkbooks that may not have been ready to do so before,” said Rogers about an increase in fundraising since he won the president’s support last week.

“I think it will certainly help our fundraising, and everything feeds on itself, so we will have a better fundraising. Better fundraising means more support. More support means wider support. Barger support means that we can continue to build our team and what we have to do through the state,” added Rogers.

While Rogers seems to have the field of the GOP for itself, the Democrats are faced with a crowded and competitive primary.
Among the announced candidates are the representative Haley Stevens, the senator from the State Mallory McMorrow, the former president of the State Chamber Joe Tate, and Dr Abdul El-Sayed, of Ann Arbor, former director of health of the county of Wayne.
“Democrats are absolutely in a knife fight in primary school. They are a waste and fight. They do not know in which direction they go,” said Rogers.
Trump narrowly carried Michigan in the 2024 presidential election after losing the state with a thin margin like a razor four years earlier. But the Republicans have not won elections in the Senate in Michigan for over 30 years. You have to return to the victory of former Spencer Abraham senator in 1994.

But Rogers said that his early start this cycle, compared to his race in the Senate in 2024, as well as the approval of Trump, could make the difference in 2026.
“I was not even in the race at the start of the last round,” said Rogers. “So being in the race so early and getting your approval (from Trump) simply says that we are serious about victory.”
“All the right steam steam here,” said Rogers.
