Trump warns against the “very serious” consequences if Russia does not accept to stop the Ukrainian war

President Donald Trump threatened with “very serious consequences” for Russia if President Vladimir Putin did not agree to end the war in Ukraine after their meeting in Alaska on Friday.

Trump issued the warning on Wednesday when he prepares for a seated with Putin in Anchorage.

“Yes, they will do it. There will be consequences,” said Trump in response to the question of a journalist on the subject. The president then refused to develop what the punishment would be.

“I don’t have to say. There will be very serious consequences,” he added.

Trump later seemed to question if he could convince Putin to stop bombing Ukrainian civilians.

“I’m going to tell you what. I had this conversation with him. I had a lot of good conversations with him, then I go home and I see that a rocket struck a nursing home or a rocket struck an apartment building, and people died on the streets,” said Trump.

“So, I suppose that the answer to this is no, because I had this conversation. I want to end the war. It is the war of Biden, but I want to end it. I will be very proud to put an end to this war, as well as the other five wars that I finished. But, I suppose that the answer to this is probably no,” continued Trump.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said on Wednesday that there was “no sign” that Russia was preparing to end the war in Ukraine.

“At the moment, there is no sign that the Russians prepare to end the war. Our coordinated efforts and our joint actions – of Ukraine, the United States, Europe and all countries seeking peace – can certainly force Russia to make peace,” said Zelenskyy on X.
