Trump to visit the Alligator Alcatraz immigration detention camp in Florida

President Donald Trump will go to Florida Tuesday for the official opening of an immigration detention camp in the Everglades which is surrounded by alligators, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz”, said Florida Governor Ron Desantis on Monday.
“We have the President of the United States who descends tomorrow to praise what Florida did,” said Desantis at a press conference on Monday, according to the Miami Herald.
“I think that tomorrow will be open to business,” he added.
Desantis has authorized the construction of an illegal immigrant detention center on a property of 30 square miles in the enumerations of the county of Miami – Dadade as part of an emergency order. The property is a former airport which was equipped with robust tent structures to house 5,000 illegal immigrants in the middle of the Trump administration blitz to eliminate the millions of illegal migrants who flooded the nation during the Biden administration.

The detention center has reached its name due to its location in the heart of the Everglades, which houses massive reptiles such as alligators and pythons.

The White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Trump’s trip on Monday, praising the detention center as “an effective and low cost way of helping to carry out the largest mass deportation campaign in American history”.
