Trump also took the opportunity to highlight the federal takeover of DC by his administration in order to repress the crime.

“By the way, in Washington, DC, we have the lowest crime numbers they have had for years. Zero. This is a horrible thing to say, but I could as well say it: zero murder last week since we did it. It is the first time in memory.

“The FIFA 2026 World Cup will be the most important and most complex event in sport history, and the Kennedy Center will give it a phenomenal kick-off and will be involved, and they will work there for a little time,” said Trump.

“We have settled everything so that they can stay there for major events, major press conferences and everything else. And they will be in a very safe capital. It will be good. You don’t have to worry about walking on the street, Johnny, ok? But you could manage yourself.”
