President Donald Trump signed the law on the reform of the real estate loan program on Wednesday, cementing a program of partial complaints aimed at preventing veterans from losing their homes at the seizure.

The new partial complaint program as part of the real estate loan program of the Veterans Department (VA) will allow veterans who are late on mortgage payments to contact these payments at the end of their loans.

In addition, the partial complaint program aims to replace the Program for the Affairs for Veterans Services (VASP) created in 2024 as part of the Biden administration, but which the Trump administration stopped in May.

As part of the VASP program, the VA bought loans from the mortgage agents, adjusted loans, then offered borrowers a fixed interest rate of 2.5% for the duration of the loan.

But the VASP program was faced with a meticulous examination of the Republicans, who denounced that it had been created without contribution from the Congress and said that it endangered the entire home loan guarantee program VA and would be expensive for taxpayers. In total, the VA estimated that it had bought more than 17,000 real estate loans totaling more than $ 5.48 billion under the VASP.

The Chamber adopted its version of the law on the reform of the real estate loan program goes in May, while the Senate adopted its version of the measure in July.

“This bipartite and bicameral legislation will help veterans who are faced with financial difficulties and provide a tool to better help veterans stay at home and avoid foreclosure. The VA mortgage program offers one of the best advantages that will have to offer, and helped veterans and their families to strengthen domicile since its creation in 1944”.
