“Mr. President. Last week, you warned of what you called serious consequences if a 30-day ceasefire or any type of ceasefire was not agreed by Russia. Will there be serious consequences? Does this change because of ….” A journalist asked Trump of the Oval Office at a bilateral meeting with Zelenskyy.

Trump replied that a ceasefire is not necessary, highlighting other peace agreements that he signed this year that did not include the cease-fire when the wars were raging.

“I don’t think you need to ceases it. You know, if you look at the six offers that I have paid this year, they were all at war,” said Trump. “I haven’t stopped it. And I know it might be good to have, but I can also strategically understand why, you know, one country or the other did not want it.”

“I haven’t stopped. I would have liked … I like the concept,” said Trump. “You know, I like the concept of ceasefire for a reason, because you would stop killing people immediately as opposed to two weeks or a week or everything you need. But we can work on a peace agreement while they are fighting. They must fight. I want them to stop them. I would like them to stop, but strategically, it could be disintegration.
