President Donald Trump is convinced that Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani “would crush” New York City if he is elected mayor, said the press secretary of the White House, Karoline Leavitt.
Leavitt made the statement during a press briefing on Monday while answering several questions from journalists about Mamdani’s victory in the primary of the Democratic Mayor.
Fox News’ White House correspondent Peter DOOCY questioned recent calls in Leavitt for Mamdani to be expelled, citing the calls of a legislator who said Mamdani should be denaturalized.
“I did not hear him say that. I did not hear him call for that. But he certainly does not want this individual to be elected. I was just talking to him and the radical policies (of Mamdani) which will completely crush New York, which is obviously a city that the president is close to his heart,” replied Leavitt.

Leavitt continued by saying that Trump would be willing to work with Mamdani if he was elected, even if she predicted that the relationship would be difficult.
“Listen, the president is still ready to work with everyone. He works with Democrats across the country, Democratic governors. And he said that he would work with people on the far left. He works with the Republicans. He works with people in the middle. He wants to do what is right for America,” said Leavitt.
“But surely, someone who holds these values and is literally a communist and condemns all the values that make this country great: common sense, law and order, low taxes, work hard and win your share in this country. He is against all this. And I think the president would find it difficult to work with someone like that, if he is elected.
