President Donald Trump presented his relationship with the North Korean leader Kim Jong Une and said that the two would come together “one day” – just before a white house summit with the new president of South Korea, Lee Jae Myung.
During Trump’s first term, the president met Kim on several occasions – including in Singapore in 2018, then twice in 2019 in Vietnam and North Korea – for denuclearization talks.
“I have very good relations with Kim Jong Un, North Korea,” Trump told the journalists in the White House on Monday. “I mean, many people would say, oh, it’s terrible. No, it’s good. In fact, one day I will see it. I can’t wait to see it. It was very good with me. We had two meetings – we had two peaks. We got along well.”

“I know him better than you,” said Trump. “I know him better than anyone who almost, apart from his sister. His sister knows him pretty well. No, I know him well. And I get along with him. You know, I am not supposed to say that I really like him because if I do that, I am killed in the false media. But I get very well.”
Trump doubled his statement before Lee in the oval office and said he “liked” to meet Kim in the Korean demilitarized area that separates North Korea and South Korea in 2019.
“I saw more weapons in this room than I have never seen in my life,” Trump told journalists next to Lee. “I looked at the other side and it was the same thing, and yet I felt safe. I felt safe because I have an excellent relationship with Kim Jong one.”
The denuclearization of talks with KIM collapsed during the first administration of Trump when the president refused to board with the request for the relief of KIM sanctions, in exchange for the trigger of the main nuclear complex in North Korea.
Although Trump’s current administration has reported a continuous interest in renewing denuclearization negotiations with North Korea, Kim’s sister Kim Yo Jong, said in July that the pressure of the White House for North Korea to denulate would be interpreted as “nothing other than a mockery”.

“Recognition of the irreversible position of the PRDC as a state of nuclear weapons and the difficult fact that its capacities and its geopolitical environment have radically changed would have a prerequisite for prediction and reflection in the future,” Kim Yo Jong said in a press release in July published by the North Korean state news agency KCNA.
Meanwhile, Trump also fired on Ally South Korea a few hours before Lee’s planned arrival at the White House – and weeks after the two agreed from a trade agreement.

“What’s going on in South Korea? It seems to be a purge or a revolution. We cannot have that and do business there,” said Trump in an article on social networks on Monday morning.
Trump told journalists on Monday morning that his statements came from media reports on churches and Osan’s air base in July. He told journalists that he was not sure of the precision of media relationships, but that he would question Lee about the issue because he would not “defend this”.
