President Donald Trump believes that the former governor of New York State, Andrew Cuomo, has a good chance of defeating the candidate of the Democratic Party, Zohran Mamdani, during the election of the city of New York.

“I think he would have a good chance of winning,” the president for journalists at the White House told Tuesday, when he was referring to Cuomo.

Trump offered his political expert the day after the presence of Cuomo that he would continue his candidacy for the town hall as an independent candidate.

The former governor with three mandates, who draws a political return after having resigned in 2021 in the midst of several scandals, was convincingly defeated last month by Mamdani in the primary mayor of the Democratic Party.

The president of the RNC says that Mamdani “ Faced with the New Democratic Party ”

Mamdani’s main victory over Cuomo and nine other candidates rocked the Democratic Party and stimulated the Queen’s 33 -year -old state of State to become the first Muslim mayor and first millennium in the most populous city in the country.

Trump said Cuomo “to carry out a difficult campaign”.

Mamdani, who was supported by the representative of progressive champions Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York and Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, reached a main victory over the frontrunner of the Cuomo era thanks to an energetic campaign which emphasized the affordability and high cost of New York.

Trump maintains that NYC faces disastrous consequences if “communist” Mamdani becomes mayor

Mamdani has made intelligent use of social media platforms, including Tiktok, while he was engaging in low propagation voters. He proposed to eliminate the prices to set up the vast bus system from New York, making rents from Cuny (University of the City of New York), freezing rents on municipal housing, offering “free daycares” for children up to 5 years and the establishment of grocery stores managed by the government.

Trump, in his comments on Tuesday, repeated his assertion that Mamdani is a “communist”.

“I don’t think the breed is finished. We have a few people running. There are things that come out about it,” added Trump, when he was referring to Mamdani.

The Republicans have highlighted the recent news concerning Mamdani which has become viral. They include a photo of 2020 that Mamdani published online which shows him to reverse a statue of Christopher Columbus, stories about the comments that Mamdani made last December when he declared that the mayor he would stop Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his recent comments in an interview with cable information that “I have many criticisms of capitalism.

“ Inside to win it ”: Cuomo refuses to retreat in a heated mayor race in New York against Zohran Mamdani

Cuomo, during the last days of the primary campaign, shone a projector on the troubles last month in Los Angeles to raise warnings on Trump and present his own experience. And Cuomo is committed, if it were elected mayor, to set up a national campaign to try to thwart Trump’s agenda, promising to protect New York from what he suggested could be a possible federal repression against immigration demonstrations in the city.

But Mamdani’s campaign spokesman Jeffrey Lerner, highlighting Trump’s comments, said on Tuesday that “we would like to congratulate Andrew Cuomo for winning the approval of Donald Trump. Obviously, this triumph talks about himself.

Trump’s apparent vote in Cuomo comes despite the mayor Eric Adams, he is also on the general election ballot. The besieged mayor announced earlier this year that he would ask for a re -election as an independent candidate.

Adams survey numbers were still running before he was even charged last year with five counts, who accused the mayor of corruption and fraud as part of an alleged “long -term” regime to personally take advantage of contacts with foreign officials.

The mayor made repeated openings to Trump, and the Ministry of Justice earlier this year rejected corruption accusations so that ADAMs can potentially work with the Trump administration on his illegal immigration repression.

Cuomo, in a video announcing his decision on Monday on Monday, said: “Only 13% of New Yorkers voted during the June primary. The general elections are in November, and I am there to win it.”

And Cuomo instructed: “My opponent, Mr. Mamdani, offers smooth slogans but no real solutions.”

Although he recognized Mamdani’s victory in primary school, Cuomo left the door open to a November race as an independent candidate, who settles New York State rules.

And at the end of last month, Cuomo let a deadline pass for the candidates who had already qualified themselves to present themselves as an independent line of voting line.

But sources told Fox News at the time that Cuomo had not yet committed to carrying out an active general electoral campaign throughout the summer and in the fall.

While the polls in recent days suggest that Mamdani does not run away with the race, Cuomo faces a climb to the general elections. In Deep Blue New York City, the winner of the Democratic primary is largely favored to win the general elections. And some of the unions and elected officials who supported Cuomo in primary now support Mamdani.

Jim Walden, a former federal prosecutor, also presents himself as a co -founder of Guardian Angels, a former federal prosecutor, who presents himself as the second consecutive election is the republican candidate at the town hall.

Walden proposed that an independent investigation be carried out in September to determine which candidate would have the best chance to defeat Mamdani, the other candidates agreeing to abandon.

But having Cuomo and Adams agree with such a scenario seems distant, because the two urged the other to leave the race.
