President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he “ordered to position two nuclear submarines in the appropriate regions” following “of very provocative declarations” made by former Russian president Dmitri Medvedev.
Medvedev declared earlier this week that Trump’s new deadline for Russia to end the conflict with Ukraine is an “step towards war”.
“Based on the very provocative declarations of the former president of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now the vice-president of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, I ordered that two nuclear submarines are positioned in the appropriate regions, in case these stupid and inflammatory declarations are more than those,” said Trump in a social position.
“Words are very important and can often have involuntary consequences, I hope it will not be one of these cases,” he added.

There was no immediate response to Russia’s comments from Trump. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not immediately respond to a request for comments from Fox News Digital on Friday.
Medvedev, now Vice-President of the Security Council of Russia, warned that Trump’s announcement on Monday according to which Russia was to end the conflict with Ukraine in 10 to 12 days would not end well for the United States
“Trump plays Ultimatum’s game with Russia: 50 days or 10 … He should remember 2 things: 1. Russia is not Israel or even Iran. 2. Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country,” said Medvedev in an article on X on Monday. “Do not go down on the road to Joe Sleepy!”
While Trump announced on July 14 that he would disconnect “serious prices” against Russia if Moscow had not accepted a peace agreement within 50 days, Trump said on Monday that the expectation of this period was futile in the middle of negotiations in a standstill.
“I will make a new deadline, about 10 to 10 or 12 days from today,” Trump told Scotland journalists. “There is no reason to wait. It was 50 days. I wanted to be generous, but we just don’t see any progress.”

Trump’s remarks are his frustration towards Putin in recent weeks in the midst of progress towards peace between Russia and Ukraine, and just a day after Russia launched more than 300 drones, four cruise missiles and three ballistic missiles in Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Trump also wrote on Truth Social Friday that “I have just been informed that nearly 20,000 Russian soldiers died this month in the ridiculous war with Ukraine.

“Russia has lost 112,500 soldiers since the beginning of the year. It is a lot of unnecessary deaths! Ukraine, however, has also suffered a lot. They have lost around 8,000 soldiers since January 1, 2025, and this number does not include their disappeared,” added the president. “Ukraine has also lost civilians, but in smaller numbers, while the Russian rockets crash on Kyiv and other Ukrainian locals. It is a war that should never have happened – it is Biden’s war, not that of Trump”. I’m just here to see if I can stop it! “”
