Trump ready to punish Russia with more sanctions on Ukraine strikes

President Donald Trump says that he is ready to punish Russia with a “second phase” of sanctions after having launched his biggest drone and missile dam on Sunday, damaging a building of the cabinet and killing a mother and his baby.

“Yes, I am,” said Trump to a journalist, who asked if he was ready to move forward with more sanctions after months of non-compliance with Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop his military operations or meet the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Trump said he was still planning to chat with Putin “in the coming days”, although he is not clear what he hopes to get out of the last conversation.

“Listen, we’re going to do it,” he told journalists on Sunday. “The situation of Russia-Ukraine. We are going to do it.”

Trump said he was “not delighted” from Russia’s Sunday attack, who damaged the cabinet of ministers in kyiv and killed four, including a mother and her baby, after 810 drones and 13 missiles were dismissed across Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Air Force said it had neutralized 747 drones and four of the missiles.

“I’m not delighted with what’s going on there,” said Trump. “I think we are going to install it. But I am not satisfied with them. I am not satisfied with anything to have to do with this war.”

Putin warns that Western troops in Ukraine would be legitimate targets’ ”

The strike occurred only a few days after Putin allegedly alleged that he was willing to meet Zelenskyy as long as the Ukrainian chief went to Moscow – a move from Western and Ukrainian officials declared that it was not only a dangerous proposal for Zelenskyy, but lacked real efforts of Putin to initiate negotiations in good faith to end the war.

Trump told journalists on Sunday that European leaders will also go to Washington DC this week to discuss the next steps for the end of the war, although he has not detailed who would make the trip and if Zelenskyy would be among them.

Putin said last month that his conditions to end war would focus on frost frost on the fronted lines in Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia, but seemed to suggest that Ukraine should withdraw his Donetsk and Luhansk forces in the middle of other stipulations.

But on Monday, the military of Ukraine said they had taken up the strategically important city of Zarichne in Donetsk – a region that Russia was assessed to occupy around 75% of last month.

Zarichne is near Luhansk – a region that Russia is evaluated almost fully – and is located near the key transport routes connecting strategically important cities to Donetsk.

Ukraine last month also said that he had made progress in areas near Pokrovsk in the west of Donetsk, where Russian forces have concentrated their summer Operating efforts.
