Democrats and local officials have pushed back, noting that the MPD and the report on the American prosecutor’s office are violent crimes at a 30 -year hollow, down 35% from 2023 to 2024.
FBI data for the same period show a much lower decrease of approximately 9%, which highlights a substantial gap between local and federal statistics. The gap follows from the differences in the way in which crimes are classified and reported to the federal databases.
