Trump plans to meet Putin in person next week, then Zelenskyy shortly after

President Donlad Trump intends to meet in person with President Vladimir Putin from Russia next week, Fox News learned.

Trump then plans to follow shortly after with a meeting between him, Putin and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy from Ukraine.

The news of the planned meeting occurred a few hours after the special envoy, Steve Witkoff, had a “very productive” meeting with Putin on Wednesday.

“Great progress has been made!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Subsequently, I have updated some of our European allies. Everyone should end, and we will work there in the days and weeks to come. Thank you for your attention to this question!”

During their discussion, Putin told Witkoff that he wanted to meet Trump, who said he would agree if the meeting was linked to a peace agreement.

“As President Trump said it earlier in the day on Truth Social, great progress was made during the meeting of the special Witkoff envoy with President Putin,” said white house press secretary Karoline Leavitt. “The Russians expressed their desire to meet President Trump, and the president is open to meeting President Putin and President Zelensky. President Trump wants this brutal war to end.”

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he spoke with Trump on Wednesday alongside other European leaders.

“Our joint position with our partners is absolutely clear-war must end. And that must be done honestly,” he said.

“European leaders were on the call, and I am grateful to each of them for their support. We discussed what was stated in Moscow,” he added. “Ukraine will certainly defend its independence. We all need lasting and reliable peace. Russia must end the war it has started.”

Trump promised to help end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

In mid-July, Trump promised to enforce the “very serious” prices on Russia if Putin does not conclude an agreement with Zelenskyy within 50 days. He then pushed the date up to 10 days July 29, forcing the new deadline on Friday.

Trump fell 100% on Trump on Trump on the midst of difficult commercial discussions with India and China.

“We will see what is happening during the next fairly short period,” he added in response to journalists’ questions. “We have a meeting with Russia … We will see what’s going on.”
