Trump plans to block Iranian Costco Shopping diplomats

The Trump administration, after having denied the visas to the Palestinian chief Mahmoud Abbas, weighs new restrictions on the delegations of Iran, Sudan, Zimbabwe – and even Brazil – before the United Nations General Assembly later this month in New York.
According to a service note from the internal State Department examined by the Associated Press, the restrictions could take effect before the general competitions of September 22.
The inclusion of Brazil is the most surprising, because the country traditionally holds a place of honor during the gathering of world leaders.

The measures are still being studied and have come while the Trump administration continues to repression of wider visa, by examining the holders of current visas and those who seek to enter for the United Nations meeting.
A proposal prohibits Iranian diplomats – which are already faced with close restrictions in New York – purchases in wholesale stores such as Costco and Sam’s Club without approval from the State Department.
Iranian diplomats have long used these stores to buy bulk products unavailable at home and ship them at a relatively low cost.

It is not clear if or when the prohibition of purchases would take effect. The memo suggested writing rules that would allow the State Department to impose conditions on membership of the Big Club for all foreign diplomats in the United States
It is also not known if restrictions would apply to Brazilian President Luiz inácio Lula da Silva or other delegates participating in the General Assembly.
Traditionally, the president of Brazil delivered the first speech on opening day, followed by the American president.

Syria will probably be confronted with less restrictions after its delegation has received an exemption from the travel limits imposed more than ten years ago.
