President Donald Trump Signed on Monday an order offering an American guarantee for the security of Qatar, an important commitment to the raised Arab ally.

“The United States considers any armed attack on the territory, sovereignty or critical Qatar State infrastructure as a threat to the peace and security of the United States”, order, made public on Wednesday, read in uncertain terms.

“In the event of such an attack, the United States takes all legitimate and appropriate measures – including diplomatic, economic and, if necessary – to defend the interests of the United States and the State of Qatar and to restore peace and stability.”

The guarantee represented a level of support generally offered to the closest allies of Washington. He came after the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu apologized to Qatari Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani for an Israeli strike on September 9 on his territory.

The strike was targeted on Hamas but killed a Qatari security official in the process.

Qatar was also attacked by Iran in June on strike targeted on its American base.

The order is below a NATO style defense pact – it was not ratified by the Senate, so it is not binding.

He came then that Netanyahu and Trump, during a visit to the White House on Monday, announced a 20 -point plan to end the war in Gazanegotiated with Qatari mediation. Hamas has not yet accepted the plan.

American relations with Doha have gone a long way since 2017, when Trump accused Qatar of having housed terrorism: “The Qatar nation, unfortunately, has always been a landmark for terrorism at a very high level,” said Trump at the time.

From there, Qatar has become a great non-nato ally in the United States in 2022 under President Biden and houses the Air Base Al Udeid, one of the largest bases in the American Middle East and a key center for US central command operations.

The nation now offers the United States a new plane to serve as a force Air One.

Qatar welcomed the president’s decree in a statement saying that it reflects “solid and long -standing ties between Doha and Washington”.

“Qatar remains determined to work with the United States and international partners as a confidence mediator to meet shared challenges, advance conflict resolution by diplomatic means and support lasting peace in the region,” the statement said.

A security guarantee has long been an objective for Qatar and other allies in the Gulf such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The nation has organized a Hamas political bureau since 2012, but local officials say they were asked to do so to establish a communication line for negotiations.

Before Qatar was involved in mediation of the Gaza ceasefire, it was a bridge for us and the Taliban before withdrawal in 2021 and worked on prisoners’ exchanges between Russia and Ukraine.
