President Donald Trump canceled a meeting with the best Democrats in the Congress on Tuesday for “non -serious and ridiculous requests” as the deadline for financed government approaches.

The head of the Senate minority, Chuck Schumer, Dn.y., and the minority head of the Hakeem Jeffries room, DN.Y., had to meet Trump on Thursday to discuss a path to follow to avoid a partial closure of the government before the deadline of September 30.

The legislators are still far from Washington, DC, this week to observe the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, and the Senate is expected to return on September 29. Meanwhile, the room should be absent to the deadline.

But Trump nixed the meeting in a long post on his social media platform Truth Social, where he exploded the duo for having pushed “radical policies for which no one voted”.

“I decided that no meeting with their Congress leaders could be productive,” said Trump.

The meeting now canceled with Trump came in the heels of a letter from Schumer and Jeffries sent this weekend where the best Democrats in the Congress put the possibility of closing his feet and the Republicans.

They argued that the short -term extension supported by Trump was “dirty”, which would mean that he had partisan policy and spending attached to it, and tilted him to continue “the republican assault against health care”, ignoring the expiration of affordable care hospitals (ACA) across the country.

“With the deadline of September 30 at the rapid approach, the Republicans will be responsible for another painful closure of the government due to the refusal of the Directorate of the GOP Congress to speak with the Democrats,” they wrote at the time.

But Trump argued that their bill would allow the repeal of the abrogation of almost a dollars Billion in Medicaid in his “big and beautiful bill”, and also exploded the continuous democratic resolution (CR) for the implementation of the rural hospital of 50 billion dollars of his megabill.

“We have to keep the government open and legislate like real patriots rather than keeping American citizens hostage, knowing that they want our now prosperous country,” he said.

“I will be happy to meet them if they accept the principles of this letter,” continued Trump. “They have to do their job! Otherwise, it will just be another long and brutal slog through their radicalized moving sands. For the leaders of the Democratic Party, the ball is in your court. I can’t wait to meet you when you become realistic about the things our country represents. Do the right thing!”

Schumer and Jeffries last month demanded a meeting with the head of the majority of the Senate John Thune, Rs.d., and the president of the Mike Johnson Chamber, R-La., To conclude an agreement, given that Thune will need democratic support in the Senate.

However, this meeting has not been headed so far – although Thune has rejected Schumer’s characterization and argued that if the Democratic chief wanted to speak, it is up to him to do so.

“After weeks of Republican Stonewalling in Congress, President Trump agreed to meet this week in the oval office,” they said in a joint statement. “During the meeting, we will highlight the importance of treating the increase in costs, including the republican health care crisis. It is time to meet and work to avoid a closure of the Republican.”

The last time Schumer went to negotiate with Trump in the White House before an imminent deadline in 2018, the government closed 35 days, which marked the longest partial closure in history. At the time, Schumer and representative Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Disagreed with Trump on an agreement to finance the construction of a wall on the southern border.

Before the meeting of the meeting, the press secretary of the White House, Karoline Leavitt, argued that if the government closed, this “would be the fault of the Democrats”.

“We want a clean financing extension to keep the government open, that’s all we recommend,” she said.

However, the Bill of the Republicans of the Chamber is relatively “clean”, with the exception of tens of millions of expenses to increase security measures for legislators following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The counter-proposal of the Democrats of Congress, which also failed last week, included more funding for the security of members, but also sought to repeal the part of the health of “Big and Beautiful Bill” of Trump, billions of funds canceled by Trump for NPR and PBS, and definitively extend the expiring ACA credits.

Thune noted last week that CRs are not places to load major changes in health policy “.

“I think we are open to the conversation on what we do with the Obamacare Premium Tax Credit,” said Thune. “Does something in which members, republican senators, and I think, moreover, the republican members of the Chamber, also have an interest.”

“But that’s not the place to do this,” he continued. “This is the place to finance the government, to allow our process of credits to continue this question.”
