Trump moves Ukraine’s policy with a more difficult position on Russia’s strikes

President Donald Trump is bending a new lever effect in the war in Ukraine – allowing the nation to use American weapons to enter deeply into Russia, saying whether to provide Kyiv from Tomahawk cruise missiles and promising Ukraine can resume all its land – while pressing China and India to reduce Russian oil purchases.
Supporters of Ukraine encourage change, noting that after months of frustration in the face of grinding conflict, Trump seems to change the tactics. From a February combative meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to his declaration last week that Ukraine could recover all of his territory of origin, the president reports a more difficult line in Moscow.
On “Fox News Sunday”, Ukrainian envoy Kellogg revealed that Trump had authorized the long -range Ukrainian strikes in Russia. Vice-president JD Vance added that the administration weighs if Tomahawk missiles must be sent, a capacity that Biden’s White House had denied. Weapons would be funded by European partners.
“We are certainly examining a number of Europeans’ requests,” said Vance. “This is something on which the president will take the final determination.”

Tomahawk manufactured by the United States has a range of around 1,500 miles, which means that Kyiv could theoretically target Moscow if Trump approves the transfer. Russia quickly issued warnings, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, wondering if Ukrainians could exploit such American assistance systems.
“Who can launch these missiles, even if they find themselves in the territory of the kyiv regime?” Peskov asked. “Can we be launched only by Ukrainians, or should it still be done by American staff? Who provides targeting? A very deep analysis is necessary here.”
He rejected weapons as strategically devoid of meaning. “There is no panacea that can change the situation on fronts. There are no magic weapons, whether Tomahawk or others, which can change the dynamics,” said Peskov.
However, Trump’s position marks one of his most striking inversions. Last week, he suggested that Ukraine could not only hold the field, but also return to its original borders, calling this “very an option”, while exhorting NATO nations to shoot Russian drones and jets that cross their air space.
He added that Russia “has been fighting for three and a half years in a war that should have taken a real military power less than a week to win. This does not distinguish Russia”.

This month, Russian drones entered Poliss and Romanian territory. The MIG-29 jets which carry missiles crossed the Estonian territory.
Eastern Europe officials say Moscow’s provocations are aimed at testing NATO unity. “Part of these provocations consists in seeing: will there be solidarity? Will there be a clear decision within NATO to increase defense?” Romanian Minister for Foreign Affairs Oana țoiu told Fox News.
The more difficult tone follows Trump’s August summit with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, which produced some breakthroughs. Since then, Trump has increased pressure, urging Europe to accelerate its energy rupture with Moscow and coordinate a new package of sanctions with the American allies.

“Inexcusably, even NATO countries have not cut many Russian energy products and Russian energy,” Trump told the United Nations General Assembly. “China and India are the main donors of the current war by continuing to buy Russian oil.”
The president has already imposed a 50% rate on Indian products, citing the dependence of New Delhi with regard to Russian fuel. The officials suggest that additional measures are being studied if India and China do not limit their energy links with Moscow.
