President Donald Trump met Edan Alexander on Tuesday, released in May from his captivity with Hamas – exactly two years after Hamas attacked Israel.

This is the second time that Alexander, a 21-year-old American-Israeli who spent almost 600 days hostage after his kidnapping by Hamas after his first attack on Israel, will go to the White House since his liberation of captivity. Alexander had already gone to the White House in July.

Alexander grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey, and went to Israel at the age of 18 to volunteer in the Israeli defense forces. He lived with his grandparents in Tel Aviv before being taken hostage by Hamas.

The presence of Alexandre at the White House also occurs while the Trump administration presented a plan in 20 points to end the conflict and make the 48 hostages still in captivity. The plan would require that all the hostages, dead and living, be returned within 72 hours of the signing of the agreement by Hamas. He also calls on Israeli forces to withdraw their troops and a complete disarmament of Hamas.

Trump’s Ministry of Justice repressed the Palestinian militant group Hamas and created a new working group in March to do justice to the victims of the Hamas attack on October 7.

The general prosecutor PAM Bondi said that the group, known as the Task Force OCTOBER 7 joint, would focus on the identification, the indictment and the prosecution of the authors of the 2023 attacks, which cost around 1,200 people, including 47 American citizens. Hamas also took over 250 people that day, including eight American citizens.

Meanwhile, Capitol legislators have warned that anti-Semitic attacks are increasingly common in the United States, the day after the current conflict. Anti-Semitic violence has reached a new summit in 2024, according to the League anti-de-favation, which recorded 9,354 anti-Semitic cases of harassment, aggression and vandalism in the United States in 2024. This represents an increase of 5 % compared to the 8,873 incidents recorded in 2023 and an increase of 344 % in the last five years.

“The terrorist attack on October 7 led by Hamas was not only a horrible attack on innocent civilians in Israel, including many American citizens, but it was also an alarm signal on the threats we are confronted here with us,” said representative Andrew Garbarino, RN.Y., president of the House of House of Representatives, Fox News Digital.

“In the two years that followed this tragedy, acts of terrorism and targeted anti -Semitic violence are increasingly common on American soil, while foreign and national terrorists strive to inspire lonely actors,” said Garbarino. “American Jews continue to be intimidated and attacks simply because of their faith. It is unacceptable, and whoever defends these calls for violence is an accomplice.”

Trump also met Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Tuesday as part of the current commercial negotiations between the two countries.
