President Donald Trump participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday to commemorate Veterans Day and honor fallen service members.

He was accompanied by Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins.

“This morning, on these hallowed grounds where generations of American heroes rest in eternal glory, we come together to fulfill the sacred duty of every free man and woman. On Veterans Day, we honor those who wore the uniform, who endured the battle, who watched and whose ranks formed the mighty wall of flesh and blood, bravery and dedication that defended our freedom for 250 years,” Trump said at the Memorial Amphitheater.

“Today, to all veterans, we love our veterans, we say the words too often unsaid, thank you for your service. Thank you very much. And we also want to thank you for carrying America’s destiny on your strong, very broad, proud shoulders. Each and every one of you has earned the respect and gratitude of our entire nation. We love you, we salute you, and we will never forget what you did to keep America safe, sovereign, and free.”

Vance, a Marine veteran, encouraged attendees to thank a veteran for their service and sacrifice.

“In my four years in the Marine Corps, I have met the best of America. People who are willing to put on a uniform and risk their lives for their entire country. Just yesterday morning, I met people who have lost limbs, who have lost very, very important family members, who have lost their psychological health,” he said, referring to his visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

“The VA now understands that we don’t do anything other than take care of veterans and do things for them,” Collins said.

He pledged to ensure veterans get what they need from the Trump administration because they have “earned everything they get.”
