Trump draws Governor Fed Cook, Democratic leaders call him illegal takeover

The best Democratic leaders quickly condemned the president Donald TrumpThe attempt to dismiss the governor of the Federal Reserve Lisa Cook, describing it as an authoritarian overtaking which threatens the independence of the American Central Bank.

“Any attempted dismissal Lisa Cook of her position as governor at Federal reserve is just the last of Donald Trump’s DC partisan games to fuel the economy for its billionaire donors at the expense of workers’ Americans, “wrote the minority of Senator Chuck Schumer, DN.Y.

“Donald Trump plays a dangerous game of JENGA with a key pillar of our economy,” he wrote, adding that the attempted dismissal “shreds the independence of the Fed and puts the savings and the mortgage of each American”.

The best Democrat in the Senate called for this “cheeky takeover” to be arrested by the courts, claiming that it could cause “permanent damage to national, state and local economies”.

Trump accused Cook – who was appointed by former President Joe Biden in 2022 and is the first black woman to sit on the Council of Fed Governors – Mortgage fraud. Cook denied any reprehensible act.

In the current state of things, Trump says that Cook is dismissed, in force immediately. But Cook and his lawyer argue that he has no legal authority to withdraw it. His mandate on the Fed board of directors takes place until January 2038.

The minority head of the Hakeem Jeffries room, Dn.y., said Trump was trying to remove Cook “without the slightest credible proof that she had done something bad”.

“Insofar as anyone who is unfit to serve in a position of responsibility due to misleading and potentially criminal conduct, this is the current occupant of the White House,” Jeffries said in a statement. “The American people do not buy your false projection and the slander of a distinguished official.”

Senator Elizabeth Warren, D., Mass., Said Trump used Cook as a “scapegoat” in a press release on X.

“(It is) an authoritarian takeover which openly violates the law on the federal reserve,” she wrote.

Warren said Trump’s decision to Fire Cook will be canceled by “any court following the law”.

The Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego of Arizona warned that Trump’s actions could erode global trust in the United States, by asking on X: “Why would someone want to invest in the United States if our financial system is besieged by a political threat? This does not help America.”

“Some authoritarian SH,” he added.

Meanwhile, representative Jerry Nadler of New York described Trump Cook’s “Removing” Cook “clearly illegal”.

“Trump undergoing the Fed for political reasons endangers the financial stability and the means of subsistence of each American, and must be disputed immediately in court.”
