Traders at TEFAF New York see slow sales in

TEFAF brings an atmosphere from prestige to three operating exhibitions-one in the Dutch city of Mastrecht, and two in New York-and so a special follow-up with Raskhen and high-ranking gathered collectors have accumulated. The wonderful European atmosphere in TEFAF New York is what distinguishes this exhibition from others that opened this week.

But Will Corner, head of operations at the Netherlands at TEFAF, said he also wanted to change this reputation. “In Mastchcht, we felt that there were many people in the low -value groups that were their best years,” I explained. “We are not only focused on the huge presence, only the blue slide of art history. We see other parts of the market unrelated to this higher level.”

Accordingly, some of the 91 exhibitors in the exhibition bring this week to a more youthful flavor to the exhibition. For example, Sprüth Magers is betting on Anne Imhof, a German artist – including three hours recently shown in The Park Avenue Armory, where TEFAF is now happening – often compared to Balenciaaga’s advertising campaigns. IMHOF has recently turned into Sculpture, and the exhibition managed to put a rest of 250,000 euros by an American group that the exhibition did not mention. Sprüth Magers also sold the drawings before it and the European community at lower prices.

Some exhibitions included that the traditional global crowd in TEFAF can still find what you want while trying to tempt new buyers. Leson Gallery, for example, sold the Shun Sculi painting, The wall is deep red (2025), for $ 500,000. Scully is known in the blue chip market, but others were their businesses not. Dalton Paula, a Brazilian painter who was last year in the Biennials of Venice, first appeared with Leson in this cabin.

Meanwhile, Gagosian brought works by a smaller artist in her stable: painter Anna Wyan. Some of her small paintings were sold at the exhibition, but the exhibition did not report their prices.

However, some Gagosian competitors went in the other direction. David Zouirner reported the sale of a kiosk of the works by Ruth Asa, a well -known artist in the post -war era, which is currently subject to a retroactive effect at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Four of its sculptures were sold at values between $ 320,000 and $ 2.8 million. Meanwhile, six works on paper were sold at values ranging from $ 50,000 and 160,000 dollars.

This year, opponents in TEFAF move in art sales. One of the reports in the industry recently found that global sales have decreased by 12 percent since last year, as the largest exhibitions have witnessed some of the most dramatic bewings. David Zouirner, La, Leson, and Tadayos Robak, all participants in TEFAF New York this year have witnessed losses in profits and high operating costs in international sites between financial years 2023 and 2024.

However, Corner warned that the shrinkage was not felt at every level of the art market. “We will not realize that the shrinkage as something goes to all groups,” Korner added.

I acknowledged that things were different this time. He said there were fewer things in the exhibition above 10 million dollars, and sales occurred quickly. “Some people do not travel as much as they were two months ago,” he said.

The merchant Thadius Robak has sold many of Daniel Richter headquarters in Berlin for 840,000 euros (945,000 dollars). That work, which is worth $ 730,000, has exceeded the artists, including Lisa Lu, Joan Snyder, David Sal, Marathha Youngurath, Robert Longo, and Meghan Rooney, which the merchant sold in Freez this week.

Robak said that in TEFAF, sales occurred more quickly than the exhibition initially expected, and informed that the exhibition had an experience with experience already. During other moments of the fair week, the closing sales occurred more slowly, but it remained patient, in line with the pace of the moment. “People take their time.”
