The head of the majority of the Senate, John Thune, RS.D., moved against the move of the Democrats of the Senate to block the short -term financing extension of the GOP while the congress is preparing for a closure of the government.
Democratic legislators led by the head of the Senate minority, Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., voted to block the continuous resolution of Republicans (CR) for a second time before the deadline to finance the government.
It is unlikely that an agreement will be concluded during the hours of decrease in the exercise (FY) 2025, and neither parts is ready to blink.
Thune said there would be more votes to come on the same bill, but that if Schumer wanted to speak, he knows where to find him. He also said that there were Democrats who “are very unhappy with the situation in which they are.”

“We did not ask the Democrats to swallow new republican policies. We have not added partisan horsemen,” said Thune. “We simply asked Democrats to extend the existing funding levels to allow the Senate to continue the work of bipartite credits that we have started.”
“And the Democrats of the Senate said no,” he said. “Why? Because the extreme left -wing interest groups and the far left democratic members wanted a confrontation with the president. And therefore, the Democrats of the Senate sacrificed the American people to the partisan interests of the Democrats.”
The Republicans tried and failed again to advance their CR, which would have extended the financing of the government until November 21 in the main objective of giving legislators more time to adopt the dozen expenditure invoices necessary to finance the government, a feat that has not been accomplished since the 1990s.

“The cracks of the Democrats are already present,” said the whip of the majority of the Senate John Barrasso, R-Wyo., Said. “When we had a vote on our proposal to keep the government open, the CR clean just before recess, we had a democratic vote. Tonight, we had three.”
Sense. John Fetterman, D-P., Catherine Cortez Masto, D-NEV., And Angus King, I-Maine, all crossed the aisle to support the bill.

The Democrats of the Senate pushed an extension to expire Obamacare tax credits, among others, that the Republicans argued that it was not provisions that should be closed on a short -term financing extension.
However, Schumer was resolved that Thune and the GOP had to come to the negotiating table to solve this problem and develop a bipartite CR.
“We hope they sit with us and speak. Otherwise, it is the Republicans who will lead us directly towards a closure this evening, and at midnight,” said Schumer. “And the American people will blame them for arresting the federal government.”
