NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

First on Fox: Republican representative Mike Collins will announce a campaign for the US Senate in the battlefield in Georgia early next week, knowledge with Fox News said on Friday.

Collins aims to challenge Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff, who presents himself to a re-election in the key state of the Southeast battlefield that President Donald Trump has just carried out in last year’s elections.

The GOP considers Ossoff as the most vulnerable democrat who requires a re-election in the Senate in the mid-term elections next year.

Collins, a businessman who founded a truck company, is in his second mandate representing the 10th district of the Congress of Georgia, which includes a wide strip of urban, suburban and rural areas between Atlanta and Augusta.

The conservative legislator, who is the son of the deceased republican representative Mac Collins in Georgia, has come closer to the launch of a Senate campaign for weeks.

“The tires gave kicks. Supply,” said Collis on Monday in an article on social networks which was accompanied by a video where he presented his links with President Donald Trump.

“The member of the Mike Collins congress, he loves this state,” said Trump in a video clip.

Collins was a leader of the president, the supporter while Trump first presented himself for the republican presidential appointment in the 2016 cycle.

During the 2024 presidential campaign, when Trump recognized the White House, Collins traveled in the name of Trump in the primary states and the crucial voting of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

He also appeared during several Trump rallies during the 2024 cycle and opened three Trump campaign offices in Georgia.

And Collins, without dealing with a difficult re -election in its secure headquarters at the red house, campaigned in ten districts of the congress across the country to help elect the candidates aligned by Trump while the GOP defended its thin majority as the razor in the room.

Collins, at the beginning of this year, reintroduced the Lake Riley law, which requires that undocumented immigrants responsible for burglary or theft be held. He bears the name of a nursing student in Georgia killed by a man who had illegally entered the United States, the case attracted national attention.

The bill, which quickly adopted the Chamber and the Senate controlled by the Republicans, became the first legislation signed by Trump when he started his second round of service in the White House.

A republican source said that Collins had a “big relationship” with the president and his political team.

And a Georgia -based republican consultant told Fox News that “the way in which Mike was going to execute is the first fighter in America who was with President Trump”.

“Mike has the opportunity to run in this way because it is an authentic path for him,” added the consultant, who asked to remain anonymous to speak more freely.

Trump, who is the ultimate manufacturer of Kings in the GOP policy and whose approvals in the Republican primaries are extremely powerful, has not yet weighed on which he could return to the booming race of the Senate in Georgia.

The national republicans hoped to recruit the popular governor of the GOP with two mandates Brian Kemp to face Ossoff. But Kemp, who is limited to term, announced earlier this year that he would spend a race in the Senate in 2026.

The Republican representative Buddy Carter, who, for a decade, has represented a district in coastal Georgia, launched a Senate campaign in the spring. Carter also courts Trump approval in the GOP primary.

Georgia John King’s insurance commissioner also appeared for republican appointment, but ended his offer on Thursday.

The former football coach of the University of Tennessee, Derek Dooley, who is the son of the former football coach of the University of Georgia, Vince Dooley, also plans an offer from the Senate. The young Dooley is close to Kemp, who is a longtime friend.

A recent survey indicates that Collins holds the advantage over its rivals of the GOP for the appointment to the party’s Senate and that it would be competitive with Ossoff in the general elections of next year.

While the Republicans consider Vulnerable Ossoff, beating it will not be easy.

The first mandate senator transported more than $ 10 million in the second quarter of April-June of 2024 fundraising, bringing his species by hand to more than $ 15 million.

And the Democrats of Georgia are targeting Collins.

“Immediately after voting to tear the health insurance from 750,000 Georgians, the representative Mike Collins now wants the Georgians to give him a promotion?” Georgia’s Democratic Party spokesman Devon Cruz said in a recent statement to Fox News Digital, when he highlighted the MEDICAID MEGABILID Cups in the GOP that Trump signed earlier this month.

Cruz argued that “Collins would join a crowded and disorderly primary that would leave the candidate of the badly murdered GOP, while Senator Jon Ossoff builds a massive momentum to take the loyalist of Donald Trump who is on the finish line.”
