The White House pushes to rename the Pentagon, confirming on Saturday plans to rename the Ministry of Defense to the Ministry of War, the Wall Street Journal First reported.

The Ministry of War was created by the Congress in August 1789 to oversee the operation and maintenance of military branches. After a brief change of name to the national military establishment after the Second World War, he was changed to the Ministry of Defense.

The assistant press secretary of the White House, Anna Kelly, told Fox News that the change comes in the middle of a restoration of American military values.

“As President (Donald) said (Donald), our soldiers should be focused on the attack – not just the defense – that is why he prioritized the fighters in the Pentagon instead of Dei and the awakened ideology,” Kelly wrote in a statement. “Stay listening!”

Renowned Department of Defense to come “Soon,” says Trump

The announcement comes a few days after Trump said that the name change would occur “in next week”.

“You know that we call it the Ministry of Defense, but between us, I think we are going to change the name,” said the president in the White House earlier in the week. “You want to know the truth, I think we are going to have information about it, maybe soon.”

Trump noted the historical importance of the name of the department during the two world wars.

“We won the Second World War (and) World War II. It was called the Ministry of War. For me, that’s really what it is,” he said. “I am talking to people. Everyone likes it. We had an incredible story of victory when it was the Ministry of War. Then we changed it to the Ministry of Defense.”

The congress creates federal executive services by law, therefore an amendment would be required to change the name legally.

“I am sure that Congress will go if we need it. I don’t think we even need it. But, if we need it, I’m sure Congress will go,” said Trump. “… Defense is too defensive. And we want to be defensive, but we also want to be offensive, if we have to be. So that seemed just a better name.”

The president may recommend legislation to make the change official or rename it informally without approval.
