Who is the British citizen of Syrian origin accused of terrorist attack of the synagogue?

But according to the gendarme of the Grand Manchester police, Sir Stephen Watson, Al Shamie, who was killed on the scene by the British police, was not proven to have carried a gun.

“It follows therefore, this subject to an additional forensic examination, this injury can unfortunately been suffered as a tragic and unforeseen consequence of the urgent measures required by my officers to end this vicious attack,” Watson said in an update of the press on Friday.

Of the three injured victims being always processed medically, one of them also suffered a gunshot wound.

Watson – Who did not confirm if it was the ball injury that killed one of the victims on Thursday – said that the injury imposed on the second victim struck by a firearm was “fortunately” not deadly.

“It is believed that the two victims were close to each other behind the synagogue door, while the faithful acted courageously to prevent the attacker from entering,” said the chief gendarme.

Attack on the British synagogue and Hamas hostage crisis underline the mortal Yom Kippour

The reason behind the attack on the synagogue of the Hebrew Congregogue of Heaton Park remains not confirmed, although it came while crimes targeting the Jews through the United Kingdom have radically increased after the attacks of October 7, 2023 against Israel by Hamas and the following war in the Gaza Strip.

The police chief said that he knew there were pro-Palestinian demonstrations through Manchester to which the police would be present, but he urged residents to wonder “if it is really the right time”.

“You can do the responsible and sensitive thing and support yourself, on this occasion, to protest in a way that is likely to add to the trauma currently experienced by our Jewish community,” added Watson.

British officials, including the interior secretary, Shabana Mahmood, and Prime Minister Kier Starmer urged the demonstrators to respect their fellow citizens and the tragic events that have occurred in the Holy Day in the Jewish Faith.

“The peaceful protest is a cornerstone of our democracy – and there is a justified concern about the suffering in Gaza – but a minority used these demonstrations as a pretext to attach anti -Semitic tropes,” wrote Starmer in The Jewish Chronicle.

“I urge anyone who is thinking of protesting this weekend to recognize and respect the sorrow of British Jews this week. It’s a moment of mourning. It’s not the time to stod tension and cause additional pain,” he added.

The Manchester police could not be immediately joined for this report.
