Four additional officials from the International Criminal Court (CIC) are facing American sanctions on actions targeting Americans and Israelis. The State Department cited the executive order of President Donald Trump entitled “impose sanctions on the international criminal court”, as a reasoning to issue the sanctions.

The named people are the judge of the ICC Kimberly Prost (Canada), the CPI judge Nicolas Yann Guillou (France) and the assistant prosecutors of the Nazhat Shameem Khan (Fiji) and the Mame Mandiaye Niang (Senegal).

“These people are foreign persons who have engaged directly in the efforts of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate, stop, hold or pursue nationals of the United States or Israel, without the consent of one or the other nation,” said Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a declaration.

Although neither the United States nor Israel is members of the ICC, individuals at the center of sanctions have taken measures against both nations at their official titles. According to the State Department, Prost has decided to authorize an investigation into American staff in Afghanistan, while Guillou has decided to authorize the ICC arrest mandates for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant.

Meanwhile, Khan and Niang are subject to the sanctions “which continue to support the illegitimate actions of the ICC against Israel”, including the arrest mandates, because assuming the management of the CPI prosecutor’s office in May.

“The (CIC) continues to not take into account national sovereignty and facilitate the law thanks to the efforts to investigate, stop, hold and prosecute American and Israeli,” Rubio wrote on X announcing the sanctions. “In response, I sanction four additional CPI officials. We will continue to hold responsible for managers of morally bankrupt and legally base of the ICC against the Americans and the Israelis.”

In response to a request for comments, the ICC pointed to a digital fox news to a public declaration.

The ICC said that it “deplores the announcement of new sanctions for sanctions by the US administration”.

“These sanctions are a blatant attack against the independence of a impartial judicial institution which operates under the mandate of 125 states parties of all regions. They also constitute an affront against the parts of the courts of the court, the international order based on the rules and, above all, millions of innocent victims around the world,” said the CPI declaration.

The State Department said that sanctions aim to “impose tangible and important consequences” against Prost, Guillou, Khan and Niang. Their American assets have been frozen and American people and businesses are prohibited from treating them. This also applies to companies in which they hold at least 50% of ownership. In addition, sanctions cover bypass solutions, such as indirect transactions.

In February, Trump signed a executive decree in which he said that the ICC had “engaged in illegitimate actions and without foundation targeting America and our close Israel ally”. The ordinance also said that the United States rejects any CPI actions against it or its allies which “did not consent to the jurisdiction of the ICC”. The order lists the types of sanctions that can be imposed, many of which are now applied to Prost, Guillou, Khan and Niang.
