The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Wednesday to quickly make a decision on the question of whether President Donald Trump had the power to impose his radical prices under the emergency federal law.

This appeal is the result of a decision of the Federal Court of Appeal 7 to 4 according to which a large majority of Trump prices were illegal according to the 1977 law on the economic powers of emergency, even if it allowed duties to remain until the case was resolved.

Many states and small businesses have challenged Trump prices in a trial saying that they caused serious economic damage.

“These illegal prices are inflicting serious damage to small businesses and endanger their survival,” said Jeffrey Schwab, lawyer for Liberty Justice Center.

The Trump administration, however, at the head of the call, arguing that the reduction in prices could cause serious economic damage.

“This decision throws a veil of uncertainty over the current foreign negotiations that the president has continued through prices in the past five months, endangering the two transactions already negotiated and the negotiations in progress,” said the Trump administration in its appeal. “The stakes in this case could not be higher.”

Officials also pointed out that the samples have raised $ 159 billion since the end of August, a figure that has more than doubled compared to the previous year.

Although the Constitution gives the congress the power to set prices over the years, many legislators have delegated these authorities to the White House. Although Trump was considered to be to his advantage, some of his duties on steel, aluminum, cars and previous prices on China were left in place by former president Joe Biden and are not part of this case.

Legal experts have noted that the government has also warned that if the courts eliminate these prices, the US Treasury could be forced to reimburse billions that have already been collected.

The Supreme Court should soon decide if they will take the case directly, which has potentially set up a major decision on the limits of the presidential power on trade.
