First on Fox: The Ministry of Justice identified nearly three dozens of cities and states on Tuesday, which it said that they were sanctuaries for illegal immigrants and warned that it was planning to take legal action against more of these jurisdictions.

The Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement that cities and states, which are mainly in blue, have immigration policies that “hinder the police and put American citizens in danger by conception”.

“The Ministry of Justice will continue to bring disputes against the courts of the sanctuary and work closely with the Ministry of Internal Security to eradicate these harmful policies across the country,” said Bondi.

Four of the 13 states on the Doj listCalifornia, New York, Colorado and Illinois, have already faced proceedings on their immigration policies. The others on the list are Delaware, Nevada, Minnesota and Washington, DC

The trial in Illinois is the most distant from the court process and has not played in favor of the DoJ at this stage. A federal judge rejected the allegations of the doj, claiming that the policies of the state and local Illinois were protected by the Constitution and that the DOJ’s trial has encroached on the sovereignty of Illinois. The DoJ could always appeal the decision or modify its complaint.

But the Doj, which changed a lot during the Trump administration to focus on the application of immigration, has also been successful.

His threats to Louisville, Kentucky, led the mayor to modify the city policy to be more cooperative with the federal government. An MJ spokesperson said the goal of the list was to encourage other states and cities to do the same.

“It is a chance for these jurisdictions to come to the table and work with us to ensure the safety of the Americans,” said the spokesperson.

The other cities of the Doj radar include Boston, New Orleans, Seattle and Philadelphia. Four counties were also on the list.

A common reason why cities and states are observed to be illegal immigrant sanctuaries involves detention policies.

Immigration and customs application (ICE) use detaices to make federal requests to prisons to hold immigrants in detention who could illegally live in the country so that the ice can stop them. The jurisdictions of the sanctuary have policies in place to ignore these opinions.

In the case of Louisville, for example, the mayor agreed to honor the period of 48 hours of ice asked to hold suspects so that they were not released before the federal authorities could potentially arrest them.
