A German store owner in the city in the north of Flensburg posted a sign on Wednesday that the Jews are prohibited from entering his store, arousing indignation among state officials in Schleswig-Holstein.

Hans-Telten Reisch, the owner of the 60-year-old store who sells Gothic users and technical literature, has published a panel that can be seen as follows: “Jews are prohibited to enter here! Nothing personal. No anti-Semitism. I cannot bear you.”

The biggest daily newspaper in Germany, Bild, reported Thursday that Reisch defended his anti-Jewish panel. He said to the newspaper That “I look at the news every night. And when I saw what the Jews did in the Gaza strip, I lost my composure and I printed the poster.”

Israel launched a defensive war against the Hamas terrorist movement in Gaza after Hamas killed more than 1,200 people on October 7, 2023, including American citizens.

Reisch said the police told him on Wednesday evening that he had to eliminate the poster.

The Minister of Culture of Schleswig-Holstein, Dorit Stenke and Gerhard Ulrich, the controversial commissioner on the anti-Semitism of the State, took the task of his reported anti-Semitism, publishing a joint declaration on the State government website.

“A sign that denies the Jews Access to a store is a scary signal and an attack on the principles of our free coexistence,” said Stenke in the press release. She continued: “We cannot allow such things to continue in our society and must take decisive measures against it. Anti -Semitism is a threat to our democracy and must not be tolerated in any form.”

Ulrich said: “We must stand together against each form of anti -Semitism”, adding “the fight against anti -Semitism is a particular responsibility that we support as a German”.

The state prosecutor launched an investigation against Reisch for hate incitement. Ulrich filed a criminal complaint for incitement to hatred against Reisch. In total, five criminal complaints were filed against Reisch, according to Bild.

“The speech of anti-Semitic hatred like this not only harms the affected people, but also disturbs public peace. The Flensburg incident, with its contemptuous rhetoric, fatally recalls the discourse of Nazi hatred against the Jews,” said Ulrich.

Another example of growing anti-Semitism in Schleswig-Holstein said the state officials said. In 2024, 588 anti -Semitic incidents were documented, an increase of 390% compared to 2023.

Ulrich, however, faced accusations that he contributed to anti-Jewish and anti-Israelian feelings when he was previously the bishop of the Protestant church for northern Germany.

The Rabbi Abraham Cooper, dean partner of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, based in Los Angeles, a Jewish human rights organization named the legendary Nazi hunter, warned against the anti -Semitism of Ulrich in December 2022. Cooper urged Schleswig in the dominant current of German society. “”
