The State Department confirms American death in Kyiv after a Russian attack

An American citizen was among the 15 killed in Russian drone and missile strikes on the Ukrainian capital, kyiv on Tuesday, spokesperson for the State Department, Tammy Bruce, confirmed on Wednesday at a press conference.

In response to the question of a journalist on American diplomats in kyiv, having to spend the night in a bunker, Bruce said “we can confirm the death of an American citizen in Ukraine”.

“We are aware of the attack on kyiv last night who led to many victims, including the tragic death of an American citizen,” she said, noting, “we condemn these strikes and extend our deepest condolences to the victims and the families of all those affected.”

Bruce did not offer more details on the identity of the citizen killed by Russian strikes, citing “respect for the family during this obviously horrible period”.

She noted that “the president in the recent past has clearly explained his thoughts on striking civil zones in this regard” and reiterated that “the thread throughout the work we do is that the ministry has no higher priority than the security and security of American citizens abroad”.

She added that the State Department “is ready to provide any possible consular assistance”.

AP reported That 15 people were killed and 156 injured in a Russian Kyiv bombing which lasted nearly nine o’clock. According to the point of sale, Russia has drawn more than 440 drones and 32 missiles, making it the deadliest attack in the Ukrainian capital this year.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted on X that six other Ukrainian regions – Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kirolohrad and Mykolai – were also affected during attacks.

This occurs while world leaders converge in Canada for the G7 summit. President Donald Trump attended the first day of the summit, but left early to face the growing conflict of Iran-Israel.

Trump criticized former President Barack Obama and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for their 2014 “very big mistake” when Russia was withdrawn from the G8 summit, which, according to Trump, would have prevented the additional war from breaking between Russia and Ukraine.
